Zenos E10 RZ Returns: Lightweight British Roadster Packs 380bhp Punch at £140k
Zenos is back with the E10 RZ, a potent evolution of the lightweight roadster originally crafted in Norfolk by ex-Lotus and Caterham engineers. Launched in 2012, the brand made waves with the E10’s mix of cutting-edge aluminium chassis design and carbon-fibre composite tub, keeping weight ruthless and handling razor-sharp. Early models featured Ford’s EcoBoost engines rated up to 350bhp, delivering thrilling acceleration and pure track-day fun.

The brand suffered a major setback in 2017, entering administration after selling just over 100 cars. AC Cars acquired Zenos’ assets and have spent years refining the comeback. Now, the E10 RZ returns for 2026, packing a 2.0-litre turbocharged Volvo engine tuned to 380bhp and 510Nm of torque, sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The curb weight is a tight 790kg, creating a potent power-to-weight ratio of around 500bhp per tonne. This gives the RZ a sprint time to 62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed near 150mph.

Under the skin, the car retains its aluminium backbone and carbon-fibre bodywork but adds revised suspension geometry, including pushrod front dampers and rear coilovers, plus a limited-slip differential to harness the extra grunt. The track is wider for stability, and the wheels—16-inch front and 17-inch rear—are light and affordable to replace after hard track days. The car keeps the old-school charm with bespoke bucket seats and a stripped-back interior peppered with carbon fibre, complemented by updated LED lighting and modern display tech.

Priced at around £140,000, the E10 RZ positions itself as a serious player in the niche for light, raw-surfaced sports cars with track cred, while Zenos also plans a smaller, 325bhp E10 R2, priced nearer £120,000. Both models aim to retain exclusivity with limited production—under 50 units per year.

Zenos has risen from near death, now sharper and quicker, reminding us that lightweight British sports cars can still bite hard even when priced like proper supercars. No frills, just power, precision, and the kind of speed that punches well above its weight. The E10 RZ marks a comeback with teeth—low weight, big power, and zero nonsense.
