Saudi Arabia’s Highway 10 is a world record holder for the longest straight road anywhere, slicing through the desert for 150 miles without a single bend. Originally built as a private road for King Fahd, this asphalt ribbon cuts through the Rub Al-Khali desert in near-perfect alignment.

Clocking nearly two hours of uninterrupted driving, the road demands your full concentration. The desert horizon stretches endlessly ahead, offering neither curves to navigate nor slopes to demand your attention.

There is a catch for wouldbe racers ... it's subject to official speed limits designed to keep drivers safe despite its tempting endless straight. On most highways in Saudi Arabia, including this record-holder, the speed limit typically ranges from 120 to 140 kilometers per hour (roughly 75 to 87 miles per hour). Enforcement is strict and backed by advanced digital monitoring systems, including AI-powered speed cameras. Drivers can expect fines if they exceed the limits, with small tolerance buffers around the posted limits, but pushing well beyond them is not tolerated. So while the highway looks like an open invitation to hammer the throttle it would land you in 'hot' (see the pun) water.

Those strict limits are sometimes lifted as Saudi Arabia’s road has become a hotspot for automotive events, from Dakar Rally training runs to rounds of the global Formula 1 calendar. The vast desert around it offers the blankest canvas imaginable for testing limits.

Before this record-holder, Australia’s Eyre Highway claimed the title, but it falls short at just 91 miles of dead straight asphalt.
