Volvo achieved a significant milestone in the UK last month, recording its best-ever sales figures for September, largely thanks to the introduction of its all-electric EX30 model and an improved direct-to-consumer retail strategy. The Swedish brand sold 11,569 cars, marking a 23% increase over September 2024 and capturing a 3.7% share of the UK car market. Year-to-date sales have also climbed 5%, from 49,177 to 51,388 units.
Volvo’s managing director, Nicole Melillo Shaw, attributed this rise to the launch of the EX30, which has helped rejuvenate the brand’s appeal, particularly in the increasingly important electric vehicle segment, and the shift towards a more streamlined retail experience that connects directly with consumers.
The EX30’s compact, urban-focused design, efficient electric powertrain, and competitive pricing have made it an attractive option for UK buyers seeking an entry point into electric mobility. This momentum is expected to continue as Volvo pushes its electrification strategy forward.
Despite global challenges in the automotive sector, Volvo’s UK success showcases how fresh product offerings combined with innovative sales approaches can fuel growth and strengthen market position.
