A Ford speeding at 90 mph down Germany’s A1 Autobahn toward Dortmund became a scene straight out of a nightmare. The driver and his passenger, instead of focusing on the road, were caught having sex ... an act so reckless it almost sparked a catastrophic pile-up.
Local media reported the vehicle veered wildly, nearly leaving the road multiple times. At one terrifying moment, the Ford swung so sharply to the right that a truck driver was forced off the lane and onto the hard shoulder to avoid a collision.
A witness driving past didn’t hesitate. He quickly contacted police after clearly spotting the 37-year-old man behind the wheel and the 33-year-old woman beside him engaged in intercourse no discreet cover involved.
Police caught up with the couple at a petrol station near Münster, where the driver was promptly arrested. He now faces charges under Section 315b of the German Penal Code for dangerous interference with road traffic, a serious offense carrying up to five years in prison.
Germany’s Autobahn is famous for stretches without speed limits, but nearly one-third of its roads do enforce limits, particularly where traffic is denser or risk rises. The incident came amid busy conditions, turning what is already a challenging driving environment into a powder keg of hazard.
Earlier this year, a motorist was caught tearing down the Autobahn at a blistering 200 mph more than 124 mph above the limit earning a €900 fine, a driving ban, and points on their license. High speed demands attention, but add distraction and it’s a recipe for disaster.
The Autobahn may welcome speed, but not stupidity.
