BMW has launched the M2 Turbo Design Edition, a special model sold exclusively in Alpine White and available only in the United States. This limited run pays tribute to one of the brand’s most iconic performance cars, the 2002 Turbo, delivering a nostalgic package with modern engineering.

The flagship feature is the hand-painted series of the classic M Motorsport stripes in blue, dark blue, and red, which wrap around the edges of the hood and trunk, visually connecting through a carbon fiber roof panel also bearing similar stripes. A unique part of the design is the partially black bonnet featuring the reversed “turbo” script a nod to the original 2002 Turbo’s front bumper graphic meant to intimidate rivals from rearview mirrors.

Under the hood lies the familiar S58 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine delivering 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, mirroring the power figures of the standard M2. Unlike much of BMW M’s current lineup that leans heavily on automatic transmissions, the Turbo Design Edition exclusively offers a six-speed manual gearbox, a feature welcomed by driving purists seeking greater engagement.

The performance figures remain impressive, with a zero to 60 miles per hour sprint completed in 4.1 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 miles per hour. An optional M Driver’s Package raises the top speed to 177 miles per hour and includes a high-performance driving experience.

Inside, special touches include “M2 Turbo” script on the sill plates, M sport seats in black Vernasca leather with color highlights that echo the exterior stripe colors, and an Alcantara-wrapped heated M steering wheel. Options include carbon fiber bucket seats and unique bronze-finished wheels for those desiring even more exclusivity.

Production of the M2 Turbo Design Edition is set to begin in early 2026, with deliveries expected by the second quarter. Pricing starts at $84,075, marking a premium over the base M2 but offering a distinct blend of nostalgic design and modern M performance. For enthusiasts drawn to a manual and a retro flair, this special edition steps up as a worthy heir to the legendary 2002 Turbo nameplate.
