The Classic Defender Works V8 Islay Edition features a Heritage Grey bodywork that is perfectly complemented with a Limestone roof and matching heavy-duty steel wheels. Step inside and the authentic interior exudes a charm that celebrates the beautiful Isle of Islay and its place in Defender's history. The seats, armrests, and door detail are partially finished in a unique tweed, handcrafted by the Islay Woollen Mill to reflect the natural colors found on the island. Moreover, beneath the armrest, a removable tray featuring the official Land Rover 75th-anniversary logo can be found, made of oak sourced from whisky barrels from the award-winning Kilchoman distillery.
A plaque beside the gear lever provides a glimpse of Land Rover's history, telling the story of how the Land Rover name came to be. In 1947, while driving a heavily modified Rover across the rugged Islay landscape, the Lagan Estate gamekeeper remarked to Wilks’ that it must be a “Land Rover,” thus giving birth to the name.
This vehicle is built to the exacting Classic Defender Works V8 specification, powered by Land Rover’s 5.0-liter V8 powertrain that produces 405PS and 515Nm of torque. The vehicle also features an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and undergoes a comprehensive rebuild by experts at Land Rover Classic Works with uprated suspension, steering enhancements, and uprated brakes.
