Nissan Rolls Out Revamped Qashqai at UK Plant
The Nissan Qashqai stands out as the segment-leading crossover vehicle, meticulously manufactured at a world-renowned facility praised for its impeccable quality standards. This fusion of superior design and flawless production has solidified the Qashqai's position as the premier choice among drivers desiring a compelling blend of style, versatility, and performance.

Nearly two decades after introducing the world's first crossover vehicle, Nissan has unveiled an upgraded version of its popular Qashqai at the company's manufacturing facility in Sunderland. The 2024 Qashqai, featuring bold new styling and advanced technology enhancements, began rolling off the production line this week following a £30 million investment in the plant.

The original Qashqai, which debuted in 2007, was a game-changer for the automotive industry, creating the crossover segment that blended the versatility of an SUV with the drivability of a sedan. Its instant popularity propelled the Sunderland plant to record production levels, with the Qashqai becoming the fastest UK-built vehicle to reach 1 million, 2 million, 3 million, and then 4 million units produced.

For 2024, Nissan has given the Qashqai a fresh look and significant technology updates to bolster its appeal. Key changes include a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, higher-quality interior materials, enhanced exterior lighting, and new alloy wheel options. Additionally, most models now feature Google Automotive Services integration and an upgraded Around View Monitor system with a 3D function.

"The original Qashqai pioneered the crossover vehicle category that is so popular with customers today, and over the last 18 years, it has become a hugely successful icon of the UK motoring industry," said Diana Torres, managing director of Nissan GB. "Its unique combination of design, performance, and technology ensure it stays ahead of rivals, and these latest upgrades will reinforce its place as one of the nation's favorite new cars to buy."

The revamped Qashqai is available with either a mild hybrid petrol engine or Nissan's innovative e-POWER technology, which uses an electric motor to drive the wheels while a gasoline engine charges the battery, providing an EV-like driving experience without the need for charging. Pricing for the 2024 Qashqai starts at £30,135 in the UK, with orders opening next month.

Nissan's £6 billion investment in the UK includes not only the Qashqai upgrades but also the company's ambitious EV36Zero plan to establish an end-to-end electric vehicle production hub in Sunderland. The blueprint calls for integrating EV manufacturing, battery production, and renewable energy sources to achieve zero emissions across the entire manufacturing process.

"These are exciting times for Nissan in Sunderland," said Adam Pennick, Nissan's Vice President for Manufacturing in the UK. "We are proud to be delivering new versions of both Qashqai and Juke to our customers while also preparing our plant to go all-electric as part of our ground-breaking EV36Zero project."

With the Qashqai leading the way, Nissan aims to transition its entire European passenger car lineup to fully electric by 2030, aligning with the company's Ambition 2030 vision for a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive future.
