Toyota Motor Corporation has unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ, with plans to launch the model in Japan around mid-2026. The Land Cruiser FJ is a rugged, compact off-roader built on a refined version of Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform, offering improved agility and off-road capability comparable to the iconic Land Cruiser 70 Series. It features a retro design with boxy styling, removable front and rear corner bumpers for easy replacement after trail use, and a utilitarian, well-equipped interior with digital instruments and an infotainment system.
Powering the FJ is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 161 horsepower, paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system and a six-speed automatic transmission. With a shorter wheelbase of 2,580 mm (approximately 101.6 inches), the vehicle boasts a tight 5.5-meter turning radius, enhancing maneuverability on tight trails. The prototype debuted at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and represents Toyota's effort to offer a new dimension of "Freedom & Joy" while maintaining the Land Cruiser's legendary reliability, durability, and off-road performance.
While the initial launch is focused on the Japanese market, Toyota is expected to roll out the Land Cruiser FJ to other regions over time, continuing the legacy of the Land Cruiser family with a focus on versatile, trustworthy off-road vehicles.
