There were approximately 15 Ferrari 308 GTS models used across the eight seasons of Magnum PI. Only one of them was there for the very beginning. Chassis 28251 is a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS that appeared in the pilot episode, "Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii," and continued into the first season of the CBS series. It is crossing the auction block at Barrett-Jackson's Palm Beach sale, running 16 to 18 April at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, with no reserve.

Provenance like this is either worth a great deal or nothing at all, depending entirely on the documentation behind it. In this case, the documentation is substantial. According to the Barrett-Jackson listing, letters from Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and from F-Register confirm that chassis 28251 is one of three carbureted 1979 examples authenticated as having been used in the show's first season. A factory colour change tag on the door jamb records the car's transformation from its original Giallo Fly finish to the Rosso Corsa red it wore throughout filming.

The car and the problem it solved

Tom Selleck is 6 feet 4 inches tall. A Ferrari 308 GTS was not built with that in mind. As The Shop Magazine reports, the production team solved this by stripping out all the seat padding and bolting the seat as far back as possible — and even then, Selleck had to drive with the targa roof removed for most scenes. Ferrari, which supplied the cars to the production after Porsche declined to modify a 928 for the role, customised the 308 to accommodate him.

The seat modifications have since been reversed and the seats returned to their original Crema leather configuration. The door cards have also been restored to original trim. The rest of the car, however, is largely as it was. The odometer reads just over 93,000 miles. There is some bubbling on the dashboard vinyl. An aftermarket Bluetooth stereo and aluminium shifter knob have been fitted. The quad exhaust exits through a perforated aftermarket metal shield. Robb Report describes the overall condition as unrestored and patinated.

Under the bonnet sits the original 2.9 litre quad cam V8, fed by four twin choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors and paired with a five speed manual transaxle with limited slip differential. Power output is 237 horsepower. The car rides on 15 inch five spoke Cromodora alloy wheels.

What happened after filming

As was the case with all 308s used on the show, chassis 28251 was returned to Ferrari North America in New Jersey once its time on screen was done. There the bodywork was repaired, the car was repainted, and it was serviced before being sold into private hands.

Its post-production life includes one more notable chapter. Robb Report and Octane Magazine both note that the car is believed to have been driven across the United States by the late political satirist and author PJ O'Rourke for a road trip feature published by Car and Driver in 1980. O'Rourke, who died in 2022, was one of the sharpest automotive writers of his generation. If the attribution holds, the car carries two separate stories worth telling.

Barrett-Jackson chairman Craig Jackson told Robb Report:

"This is one of the most iconic cars in both cinema and automotive history. Every kid dreamed of being Thomas Magnum, racing around Hawaii in a Ferrari, in hot pursuit of the bad guys."

What it is likely to fetch

The car has been to auction before. Yahoo Autos reports that it sold for $115,000 in 2025 and subsequently failed to meet a reserve of $120,000 at a later sale. It is now offered without reserve, which means it sells regardless of where bidding stops.

A standard unrestored 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS in comparable mechanical condition commands somewhere between $60,000 and $90,000 at auction. What this one carries over and above that is the pilot episode credit, the authenticated provenance documentation, the Selleck seat modification story, and the possible PJ O'Rourke connection. How much those stories are worth is, as always, entirely up to the room.

As carbureted 308s were only used in season one — Ferrari supplying fuel injected GTSi models from season two onwards before the Quattrovalvole took over for the final two seasons — this car represents the specific, early version of the Magnum Ferrari that most people picture when they picture it at all.

The auction runs 16 to 18 April. The mustache, as Motor1 correctly noted, is not included.

Magnus Walker Is Auctioning His Porsche Collection

Magnus Walker has spent the better part of three decades assembling one of the most recognizable Porsche collections on the planet. The British born entrepreneur, who arrived in Los Angeles in the 1980s with virtually nothing and built a fashion empire before discovering his true passion lay four wheels and a flat six engine away, has accumulated dozens of significant Porsches spanning generations of the iconic German sports car. Now, after years of speculation about whether his legendary garage would ever see the light of day at auction, Walker has confirmed he is selling.

The decision has generated excitement, anxiety, and genuine sadness among Porsche enthusiasts worldwide. Walker's collection isn't simply a wealthy man's accumulation of expensive cars. It represents decades of passionate, sometimes obsessive pursuit of specific machines at specific moments when they were overlooked, undervalued, and available to someone willing to look beyond conventional wisdom about which Porsches mattered.

Walker built his reputation not by buying the obvious cars at obvious prices but by identifying machines that most collectors ignored. When the rest of the world chased 911 RS models and factory lightweight versions, Walker gravitated toward unique examples, unusual specifications, and cars with stories that transcended their mechanical specifications. His collection tells a narrative about what makes a Porsche special that price tags alone cannot explain.

How Walker Built His Empire

Magnus Walker's journey from fashion entrepreneur to Porsche legend represents one of automotive culture's most compelling origin stories. Arriving in Los Angeles from Sheffield in the mid-1980s, Walker initially made his name in fashion, building a successful clothing brand that generated the wealth necessary to pursue automotive passions without financial constraint.

His first significant Porsche purchase occurred in the early 1990s, acquiring a 911 that captivated him in ways no fashion achievement could match. The mechanical engagement, the design heritage spanning decades, and the emotional connection that driving a great Porsche provides created an obsession that fashion could never satisfy.

What distinguished Walker from other wealthy Porsche collectors was his willingness to research, travel, and negotiate for cars that others overlooked. While mainstream collectors focused on the most obvious desirable specifications and the cleanest provenance, Walker pursued cars with interesting histories, unusual factory options, and character that standard examples lacked.

His collection eventually grew to include over 50 significant Porsches spanning from the 1950s through the 1990s, including numerous 911 variants, 356 models, and special editions that collectively represented some of the most interesting examples of each generation ever assembled in private hands. Several cars in his collection have never been publicly shown, their existence known only to close associates until auction catalogues reveal them to the wider world.

Walker's documentary appearances, social media presence, and willingness to share his passion with enthusiasts built a following that transcended traditional collector circles. Younger Porsche fans who discovered the brand through Walker's infectious enthusiasm and accessible storytelling represent a generation of collectors who might never have pursued vintage Porsches without his influence.

The Cars That Matter Most

While the complete auction catalogue hasn't been fully disclosed as of early 2026, early indications suggest several cars that will generate extraordinary interest and potentially record-breaking results.

Walker's 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS, one of the iconic homologation specials produced in just 1,580 examples to qualify the Carrera for racing, represents perhaps the collection's crown jewel. This particular example carries significant history and specification details that Walker spent years verifying and documenting. RS models have traded from £1 million to over £3 million in recent years depending on specification and provenance, with Walker's example likely commanding the upper reaches given its documented history and the provenance premium his ownership adds.

A 1967 Porsche 911 S in factory Bahia Blue represents Walker's appreciation for early 911 aesthetics and the era when Porsche produced cars of such visual perfection that color choice alone determined whether a specific example achieved iconic status. Factory original Bahia Blue 911s in exceptional condition have traded above £500,000, with Walker's example potentially exceeding this given its specification and condition.

Several 356 models in the collection, spanning from the early 1950s through the final 1965 examples, represent Walker's acknowledgment that Porsche's story began before the 911 and that earlier models offered driving experiences and design qualities that deserve equal reverence. The 356 market has strengthened considerably over the past decade as collectors recognize these cars as the foundation upon which Porsche's entire sporting identity was built.

Walker's collection reportedly includes several 911 Turbo models from the 1970s and 1980s, the period when turbocharging transformed the 911 into a genuinely frightening performance machine. Early turbocharged 911s, particularly the legendary 930 Turbo with its notorious throttle lag and explosive power delivery, have appreciated dramatically as collectors recognize them as representing a unique and somewhat terrifying driving experience that modern turbocharged cars deliberately sanitize.

Why Sell Now?

Walker has addressed the inevitable question directly in interviews and social media posts, though his answers have been characteristically thoughtful rather than providing a single definitive reason.

"I've had these cars for a long time," Walker explained in comments to Robb Report in December 2025. "Some of them I've owned for 20 years or more. At a certain point you have to ask yourself whether you're actually enjoying the collection or whether you're just maintaining it. I wanted these cars to go to people who will drive them, enjoy them, and love them the way I did when I first acquired them."

The practical considerations also influence timing. Walker is approaching 60, a milestone that naturally prompts reflection about legacy, priorities, and how best to enjoy remaining decades. Holding a collection of this magnitude involves responsibilities including insurance, maintenance, storage, and security that consume time and resources regardless of how much enjoyment the cars provide.

The auction market's current strength provides favorable conditions for selling. Classic Porsche values have remained robust through 2025 despite broader economic uncertainty, with genuine enthusiast demand supporting prices at levels that might not persist if economic conditions deteriorate. Selling into strength rather than weakness represents shrewd financial thinking alongside the emotional considerations Walker has articulated.

Some speculation suggests that Walker might retain certain cars while selling others, though official statements haven't confirmed which examples might remain in his personal collection. The possibility that Walker keeps one or two personal favorites while dispersing the remainder would represent a compromise between emotional attachment and the desire to see these cars experience new ownership and new adventures.

The Auction Dynamics

Selling a collection of this significance requires careful planning and strategic positioning to maximize both financial returns and the likelihood that cars reach appropriate buyers rather than simply the deepest pockets. Auction houses including RM Sotheby's, Bonhams, and Gooding and Company have all expressed interest in handling the sale, with the final selection likely depending on which house offers the most compelling marketing strategy and demonstrated ability to attract serious Porsche collectors.

The timing of the auction matters enormously. Major classic car auction events including RM Sotheby's Amelia Island event in March, the Monaco Historic Grand Prix auctions in May, and the Monterey Car Week sales in August attract different buyer demographics and generate different price levels for similar cars. Strategic placement across multiple events rather than dumping the entire collection at once would likely maximize returns while generating sustained media attention.

The documentation Walker has assembled over decades of ownership adds substantial value to each car. Provenance records, maintenance histories, acquisition documentation, and photographs showing each car's condition over time provide buyers with confidence that purchases represent genuine examples rather than misrepresented or fraudulently documented vehicles. This documentation becomes increasingly important as values rise and buyers invest six or seven-figure sums based partly on trust in provenance claims.

What This Means For The Market

Walker's collection sale represents a significant event in the classic Porsche market regardless of individual car results. The volume of desirable material entering auction simultaneously could create pricing pressure on specific models, particularly if multiple examples of similar specification compete for the same pool of serious collectors.

However, the rarity of seeing a collection of this quality and significance dispersed through auction creates opportunity rather than purely downward pressure. Collectors who have wanted specific cars for years, waiting for examples with the right specification, history, and condition to appear, will find unusual opportunities within Walker's dispersal.

The sale also functions as a market benchmark, establishing current valuations for dozens of significant Porsche models simultaneously. Dealers, insurers, and collectors will reference Walker's results when assessing values of similar cars in their own portfolios, making the auction outcomes influential beyond the individual transactions.

The Cultural Significance

Beyond financial and market considerations, Magnus Walker's collection sale represents something larger about automotive culture and its relationship with physical objects in an increasingly digital world.

Walker spent decades assembling cars that represent Porsche's greatest moments of design and engineering. Each vehicle in his collection embodies specific decisions made by specific engineers at specific moments when Porsche pushed boundaries of what sports cars could be. The 911 RS represented homologation obsession taken to its logical extreme. The early 911s captured the moment when Porsche's identity crystallized around rear-engine sports car perfection. The 356s preserved the brand's origins in Ferdinand Porsche's original vision.

These cars aren't museum pieces. They're meant to be driven, experienced, and loved by people who understand what makes them special. Walker built his collection not to display wealth but to preserve and celebrate automotive achievement that deserves reverence.

Whoever acquires these cars inherits not just vehicles but responsibility for maintaining them, driving them, and keeping them alive as functional expressions of automotive art rather than static investments sitting in climate controlled garages accumulating value without purpose.

Walker's willingness to let go of cars he's loved for decades reflects genuine understanding of what these vehicles represent. They existed before he owned them. They'll exist long after he's forgotten. His role was custodian rather than owner, preserving them through one chapter of their existence before passing them to the next custodian who will cherish them equally.

The automotive world watches Magnus Walker's collection disperse with the same reverence it watches great art collections sell. These aren't merely cars. They're cultural artifacts that represent humanity's finest achievement in combining engineering, design, and emotional connection into machines that move us, literally and figuratively, in ways nothing else quite manages.

Whether Walker feels liberation or loss when the last Porsche leaves his garage, he's created something that endures beyond ownership. The cars he found, saved, restored, and loved will continue inspiring enthusiasm and passion in whoever drives them next. That legacy matters more than any auction result, and it's the one thing no hammer price can ever diminish.

The car will be displayed at Sundance’s Grand Hyatt Deer Valley.

It’s built on a 1991 NSX chassis with 252K miles underneath.

A few years before the second-generation NSX ever turned a wheel, moviegoers got a sneak peek of something special. In The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. rolled up in a dark red Acura NSX Roadster concept, and for gearheads paying attention, it was a memorable cameo.

Now, that exact car is going up for sale, giving one lucky buyer the chance to own a genuine piece of superhero cinema.

Read: The NSX Is Technically Dead, But Italdesign Just Built A Better One Anyway

Acura has confirmed it will showcase the one-off roadster at this week’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The car will appear during the annual fundraiser hosted at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley.

The sale will be hosted by Cars & Bids, which was tapped as the official auction platform for this year’s offering. Acura says that the proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the winning bidder.

On top of that, the company plans to make an additional contribution to the Sundance Institute, continuing its support for independent filmmakers and fresh creative voices.

“Acura has been honored to stand alongside the Sundance Film Festival in championing bold storytelling and the independent artists who bring it to life,” assistant vice president of marketing at American Honda, Jennifer Symington said. “As we celebrate the legacy of Robert Redford, we’re proud to spotlight our commitment to the Sundance Institute through the auction of this iconic Acura NSX Roadster, ensuring continued support for emerging voices year-round.”

While the NSX Roadster’s exterior might suggest a close link to the second-generation model, it’s actually built on the chassis of a first-generation 1991 NSX that had already logged a hefty 252,000 miles (405,555 km).

It was reworked with a handcrafted body made of resin and fiberglass, reshaped to match the concept seen on screen. The ride height was lowered by 2 inches, and 18-inch wheels were added to complete the transformation. Inside, aside from a pair of aftermarket seats, the cabin remains largely faithful to the original NSX layout.

The NSX Roadster isn’t the only Acura that’ll be at Sundance. The MDX has been named as the official vehicle of the festival and will be used across the various events and premieres. The small Acura ADX will also be displayed.

There are auction lots, and then there are cultural artefacts that just happen to have a VIN number. This 1996 Hummer H1 sits squarely in the latter camp. Yes, it’s a vehicle – a 396ci turbo-diesel V8, four-wheel drive brute – but it’s also the last car ever purchased by Tupac Shakur. That alone elevates it way beyond being a piece of mere machinery.

From a petrolhead’s perspective, the H1 is fascinating even without the celebrity backstory. Born from AM General’s military Humvee, it was never designed to be subtle, comfortable or efficient. With 205bhp and a stump-pulling 440lb-ft of torque delivered at just 1,800rpm, the H1’s appeal was never about speed. In its military garb, it was about strength, protection and go-anywhere ability. In the civilian world, it was a status symbol of wealth and success.

Portal hubs, vast ground clearance, and a footprint wider than many modern pickups made it less a road car and more a statement of intent. In the mid-1990s, nothing else looked like it – and arguably nothing has ever since.

Oh, and it has fog lights, all the fog lights!

Is it even a Hummer without a row of eye-melting lights on the roof?

All of those factors made it a fitting choice for Tupac. At the height of his fame in 1996, Shakur embodied contradiction. The Hummer mirrored Tupac’s identity perfectly. It was excessive, confrontational and unapologetically American. Yet underneath the bravado was a machine engineered with a very specific purpose.

The car was owned by Shakur when he was living in Woodland Hill, California

The fact that this H1 was listed in Tupac’s estate inventory gives the car a chilling finality, as it was purchased shortly before his death in September 1996, meaning it represents one of the last chapters of his life. Unlike the BMW he was riding in when he was shot in Las Vegas, this Hummer was something he chose – a personal indulgence rather than something he needed.

The interior is pure '90s nostalgia!

For enthusiasts, the appeal isn’t just that a famous name once held the keys It’s that this H1 is a time capsule from an era when excess was celebrated, and subtlety was optional. It’s presented in what looks like as-used condition, with the interior still wearing all the trappings of a '90s rap legend. Clarion head unit and 12-disc autochanger - check. In-cockpit TV, cream leather and air-conditioning - check, check and check.

The Hummer is set to crumple the auction block at the Bonhams Scottsdale sale on January 23. You can check out the listing for yourself and, if you have deep pockets, register to bid on the Bonhams website.

It never became a commercial success, but it earned cult status for its design, performance, and rarity. Only 453 were built, and this one carries more than its share of stories.

Lauda’s car stands out with the signature M‑colours running along its body, a nod to the Procar series where Formula 1 drivers raced identical M1s in close, aggressive battles. Lauda won that championship in 1979, showing the same focus and precision he brought to F1.

This particular M1 is in road‑spec form, with the 3.5‑litre six‑cylinder engine that made it one of the best‑handling cars of its time.
Later this month, Bonhams will host an online auction featuring 50 original film and TV vehicles alongside 19 pieces of movie memorabilia—all offered at no reserve. The cars and memorabilia in question come from the Movie Cars Central Museum located just outside of Paris and operated by Franck Galiègue—so you know they’re legit.

The collection spans several decades' worth of film history, including vehicles from classics such as Fast & Furious, Taxi, Jurassic Park, Drive, Men in Black, Back to the Future, Robocop, Ghostbusters, and The Dukes of Hazzard. Faithful recreations from The A-Team, Herbie, Batman, and the James Bond movies are also included in the auction.

A standout highlight is the original Peugeot 406 V6 from Taxi 2 (1999), which will be on display from November 7–9 at the Salon Époqu’Auto in Lyon, France. The car is regarded as one of French cinema’s most iconic vehicles and carries an estimated value of €70,000 to €120,000 (approximately $75,000 to $130,000).

According to Bonhams specialist Loïc Maschi, the auction is aimed at collectors and pop culture enthusiasts worldwide: "Many of these vehicles are authentic witnesses to both film and automotive history."

Franck Galiègue, operator of the Movie Cars Central Museum, added that the sale marks the end of a personal journey: "I’ve spent many years collecting these cars. Now it’s time to pass them on to new owners."

Rowan Atkinson is selling his vintage Jaguar E-Type that he smashed up as part of a scene in his Netflix show.

The classic car has since been repaired and placed on the market directly from the actor's personal collection.

The Mr Bean actor, 70, is a well-known car enthusiast who owns a diverse collection of high-performance and luxury cars.

His collection includes a McLaren F1, which he famously crashed twice, an Aston Martin V8 Zagato, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Bentley Mulsanne Birkin Edition, and a BMW 328.

Now he will part ways with his 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-litre Coupé, which was destroyed in his Netflix show Man vs Bee.

The series, viewed more than 25 million hours worldwide, features Atkinson's hapless character wreaking havoc in a luxurious home while attempting to outwit a bee.

One of the most memorable sequences sees the Jaguar suffer comic destruction, from a shattered rear window to a flaming dashboard and even a diamond cutter slicing through its bodywork.

'This is the very car that starred in those unforgettable scenes,' Iconic Auctioneers said.

Its listing says: 'The car's sensational debut captured global attention, setting new standards of performance and style.

We’ve all seen them. Those cars for sale that claim former ‘celebrity ownership’, and are a letdown on one (or many) fronts. Cars in the classifieds need to have their provenance shouted about, of course, but you know the sort of tenuous associations we’re talking about. The famous person in question will have owned the car for no time at all perhaps, or never driven it anywhere; maybe the car that’s being sold doesn’t really qualify as interesting, no matter what name was once on the V5. Or, heaven forbid, the person that once owned it (and is supposed to bring added value) just isn’t that notable at all…

No such concerns here. It’s a V12 Ferrari, first off, which is always interesting (and we’ll get to it properly in a second). More intriguing still is the fact that this 456 GT was delivered new in 1995 to Pete Townshend. The ad describes him as a ‘multi-instrumentalist and the driving force behind the legendary rock band, The Who.’ Which, if brief, sums up an incredible musician and his outstanding career to a tee. It would be all too easy to dedicate reams of reams of a car advert to Townshend’s achievements, given his Wikipedia page is about as long as Ulysses; safe to say he very much qualifies as a proper famous person.

It’s now more than 60 years since The Who’s original lineup - Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle and Keith Moon - formed. From 1964 to 1978, they established a reputation as one of the most influential, popular and loud rock bands of the period; people know The Who, and they know names like Pete Townshend’s, because it was a group that transcended age and musical taste. Doesn’t matter how old you are and what you’re into, because everybody knows The Who. They’re just one of those bands.

All of which means you’d let off a dealer being quite excited about having, say, Pete Townshend’s old Ford Cortina in stock. But they don’t - they have his old Ferrari 456 GT for sale. And they’re fantastic regardless of ownership history. It was delivered new in 1995, said to be one of just 141 right-hand drive manuals; it’s not clear whether that’s just pre-Modificata 456s or the entire decade and a bit of production, but you only need browse the classifieds to see the autos were overwhelmingly the more popular transmission. A manual 456 of any kind is a very rare car. A very cool one, too - the six-speed would have been a bold spec choice.

There’s plenty more to appreciate as well: the 456, like a few front-engined Ferrari V12s, never really suited Rosso Corsa - this Gunmetal finish, on the other hand, still looks really suave and sophisticated. After Townshend’s four years of ownership, it stayed with the next owner for more than a decade and a half; the current keeper has had it since 2017, so very few owners for 30 years of driving. It comes with the fitted luggage set (fabulous it looks, too), and is said to have been looked after ‘regardless of cost’. Probably a good attitude to take into future ownership as well. Point being that even without the Townshend association, it looks a lovely Ferrari 456.

The asking price is £60k, making this GT one of half a dozen 456s on PH priced between £54,950 and £60,000. You’re spoilt for choice! More specifically, it doesn’t seem that a huge premium is being attached for the celebrity link, which is nice to see. And, as the ad also points out, the 456 remains one of ‘very few Ferraris nowadays that can be bought for less than their list price when new.’ In case any further justification was required for the ultimate piece of The Who memorabilia…

A unique example of the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, ordered new by ex-F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, is set to be auctioned.

One of 150 examples of the Valkyrie coupe made, it will be sold as part of the Broad Arrow Zoute Concours Auction in Belgium.

The Australian driver confirmed his retirement from motorsport earlier this month, and has seemingly started to sell off his most valuable toys.

Ricciardo had been linked to the fledgling Cadillac Formula 1 Team ahead of its debut for the 2026 season. However, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas were named as drivers for the new American outfit, with Colton Herta taking the reserve spot.

Developed as a joint project between Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin, the team’s title sponsor at the time, the Valkyrie featured design input from legendary F1 engineer, Adrian Newey.

A lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis was combined with a mid-mounted and naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12. The Cosworth-built engine featured an F1-style KERS hybrid boost system, pushing its total output to 1,176hp.

With advanced aerodynamics, the Valkyrie can generate up to 1,800kg of downforce – around 500kg more than the weight of the car itself.

Limited to a top speed of 220mph, the Valkyrie is likely to feel quick even compared to some of Ricciardo’s previous company cars.

Ricciardo commissioned Valkyrie number 089 in European specification and left-hand drive. A Q by Aston Martin Dichroic Dawn paint finish was chosen for the exterior, costing £30,000 alone.

The special hue was branded ‘Badger Blue’ in honour of Ricciardo’s nickname. It also appears on the roof strakes and painted wheel centres. Elsewhere, the Valkyrie’s bodywork is exposed, unpainted carbon fibre.

Some £40,000 was spent on a set of ultra-lightweight Magnesium Performance Wheels, with a centre-lock fitment aimed at track-day use.

On the inside, Ricciardo chose Pure Black Debossed Alcantara for the upholstery, matched with satin carbon fibre trim at a cost of £10,000. Further bespoke touches include silver-anodised toggle switches on the steering wheel, plus silver stitching for the carbon fibre seats.

Delivered to Ricciardo by Aston Martin Monaco, the Valkyrie has hardly been used, logging just 160km on its odometer.

A new owner will benefit from the Valkyrie’s recent 24-month service, along with the £62,000 ‘Intensified’ Valkyrie service plan, which is valid until 2027.

Ahead of the auction, Broad Arrow has given the Valkyrie a guide price of between £2.1 million and £2.45 million. We only have to wait until Friday 10 October to see how much Ricciardo’s Valkyrie sells for in Belgium.

Daniel Ricciardo’s Aston Martin Valkyrie has just 100 miles on the clock.

The hypercar wears Dichoric Dawn, a shimmering $40,500 paint option.

Auction house expects the car to fetch up to $3.2 million in October.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie may be one of the most remarkable road-legal performance cars ever built, but it seems a growing number of owners are quietly moving theirs on. Australian ex-F1 superstar Daniel Ricciardo is the latest to join that list, selling his custom Valkyrie through Broad Arrow Auctions in October.

Read: Someone Specced The Wildest Valkyrie Ever Then Sold It After One Track Day

Ricciardo’s connection to the Valkyrie runs deeper than simply signing an order form. Back in 2016, while racing for Red Bull, he was involved in the global unveiling of what was then called the AM-RB 001. Exactly when his own car arrived or how much it cost him remains unknown, but later this year someone else will be handed the keys to a machine born from the racetrack.

A Custom Shade

When commissioning his Valkyrie, which is chassis number 089, Ricciardo opted to have it sprayed in Dichoric Dawn, also known as Badger Blue. This paint was a – rather hefty – £30,000 ($40,500) option and looks white under some lights but shimmers in a light shade of blue from certain angles. The Aussie also ordered matching Dichoric Dawn graphics running along the roof, optional black tailpipes, and gloss carbon on the roof and engine cover.

Details That Add Up

The Valkyrie also boasts a set of £40,000 ($54,000) magnesium wheels finished in Matte Black and sitting over black brake calipers. The special options ordered through Aston Martin’s Q division continue into the cabin and include black debossed Alcantara and satin carbon fiber parts. All up, this hypercar has £141,500 ($191,000) worth of options and comes with the Valkyrie Ownership Experience Program Service Plan.

That program runs until August 2027 and promises the car stays in perfect running order. The next custodian will, however, need to cover four annual installments of £23,000 ($31,000) to keep the plan active.

Low Miles, High Value

Despite its extraordinary specification, Ricciardo has barely used the car. The odometer shows just 100 miles (160 km) since new and its condition reflects that light use. Broad Arrow Auctions expects the sale to fetch between €2.4 million ($2.8 million) and €2.8 million ($3.28 million), placing it firmly among the most desirable Valkyries to surface on the open market.

Should you happen to have a few spare millions lying around between the sofa cushions (or, more likely, on your bank account), you’ll find the complete listing waiting for you here.

It’s been more than two years since the tragic passing of Ken Block, but his impact is still felt right across the car world. Need proof? Just look at the £330,000 to £480,000 estimate on this 1978 Porsche 911 SC that he rallied back in 2022.

The car was one of 13 built by British Porsche specialist Tuthill that competed in that year’s East African Safari Rally, a gruelling historic event taking in some of the most punishing special stages Kenya has to offer.

Porsche 911 SC Safari - interior

Block, together with long-time co-driver Alex Gelsomino, were taking on the event for the first time, and although they chalked up eight stage wins, a succession of punctures and a time penalty eventually saw the duo finish 19th – although it’s one of those events where finishing is an achievement in itself.

Away from the obvious and now poignant Block connection, there’s plenty more that appeals about this 911. The Tuthill Safari treatment sees it get a rebuilt 3.0-litre engine sending around 280bhp through a beefed-up five-speed manual gearbox and an LSD.

Porsche 911 SC Safari - rear

Other goodies intended to help the car cope with the brutal terrain it would face include five-way adjustable dampers, hydraulic bump stops, bespoke billet front suspension uprights, and strengthened rear suspension arms.

Since its Kenyan outing, the car has been given a full mechanical refresh and set up for road use, but its appearances since then have been sparing, the most notable one coming as part of a tribute to Block at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Porsche 911 SC Safari - detail

Still wearing its ever-recognisable Hoonigan livery and number 43, it now lives in the US, and is coming up for sale in one of RM Sotheby’s’ Sealed private auctions. That means we can’t see how high bidding’s getting, but given that it’s a classic 911 with a link to a beloved and much-missed car culture figure, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it hits that lofty estimate.

Actor and cool-guy archetype Steve McQueen is inextricably associated with the Bullitt ’68 Ford Mustang Fastback and Porsches from Le Mans. But when he was running errands, driving to church, or just going to the airport, he often drove this 1952 Hudson Wasp. The car has lived at the Petersen Museum in LA since 2006, and is now headed to an RM Sotheby’s auction. Celebrity connection aside, it’s an incredibly cool car with many neat design details captured in the auction house’s deep photo gallery.

The car’s full name is 1952 Hudson Wasp Twin H-Power Two-Door Brougham. It’s going to be sold at Sotheby’s Hershey auction in Hershey, Pennsylvania (yes, where the chocolate comes from) on October 9, but you can also bid on it online or over the phone. It’s Lot 246 if you’re interested; the estimated sale price is between $40,000 and $60,000. Hudson Wasps in good shape seem to be selling in the $20,000 to $40,000 neighborhood, but obviously, this would be an exceptionally special one to collect.

I have to admit I haven’t thought about Hudson cars since the last time I watched Cars 1, which was a few years ago, over some stranger’s shoulder on a seatback screen on a flight. Of course, “Doc Hudson” from the movie was a Hudson Hornet, which was slightly longer, but the basic design is extremely similar to the Wasp. And that design is really quite cool. It’s a great example of the classic ’50s diner streamliner aesthetic, heavily accentuated by the novel covered back wheels. Meanwhile, huge bumpers give it an almost utilitarian look that grounds the design and makes it feel downright practical. The cockpit is pure class—again, big time diner vibes, and the couch for a bench seat looks like a great place to lounge.

Under the hood is an inline six with a Power Dome cylinder head and Twin-H Power carburetor setup. It has a Hydra-Matic Drive transmission with a column shifter.

As you’ll notice as you scroll through the images, the car is clean but far from mint. It’s got 63,537 miles on it (pretty high for a car from the ’50s!) and there are plenty of dings and rust bubbles. The paint on the roof is toast. Take a swipe through the slideshow here:

I would leave it exactly as-is; it looks lived-in, which, to me, is perfect. Can’t say I’m a McQueen superfan, but I would definitely get a kick out of driving around in his old “Sunday-go-to-church-car.”

Like ‘Quattroporte’, it’s one of those Italian names that sounds so much more exotic than the humble reality, and has found its way onto some truly spectacular Ferraris over the decades. A 250 Testa Rossa Spider sold as far back as 2009 for €9,020,000; a 500 TR Spider made almost €4m a couple of years ago. That’s the calibre of Ferrari we’re talking about when dealing with redhead heritage.

Despite that, however, this is surely what most of us think of as a Ferrari Testarossa. That great wedge of '80s excess, with a 180-degree V12 in the middle, those unmistakable slats in the side and pop-up headlights for good measure. Along with the Countach, a true icon of the era, and a Ferrari that was already enjoying some appreciation - kids who idolised this in the '80s could be well off empty nesters now - before the name was brought back. Launched in 1984, fully a decade after the Lamborghini, it ran until 1991, when it was replaced by the heavily updated 512 TR. That car would eventually evolve into the F512M from 1994, before the family was replaced by the return of the front-engined V12 Ferrari flagship in the shape of the 550 Maranello. Across the three models, almost 10,000 were made.

Only this one, however, was owned by Sir Rod Stewart. And it’s not every day the former Ferrari of a true music legend comes up for sale. He might not be topping the charts anymore, what with being 80 and all that, but everyone knows Rod Stewart. Everyone knows a Rod Stewart song. Everyone. He’s just one of those musicians. You can well imagine a few people out there very enthusiastic about both Mr Maggie May and '80s Ferraris.

The advert says Rod the Mod owned the Testaross for two and a half years; not a great amount of this car’s 36-year life, though enough to qualify as proper ownership. Indeed, the modifications fitted by him survive to this day; they were, perhaps unsurprisingly, a better stereo and set of speakers. Given the current keeper has had this car since 1997, they’re not going to be anything special these days, but it adds another bit of detail to a cool ownership story. The history file that comes with it is said to be ‘comprehensive’, and the old thing turns out very nicely indeed. The Testarossa is still going to get a lot of love wherever it ends up. Potentially more than a new one, in fact, but that’s a discussion for another day.

The split rims have been with the car for a quarter of a century, and certainly ensure that this Testarossa stands out among the rest; they’re easily changed for someone who might prefer the original look. The red interior with red carpets (on a red car!) would take rather more effort to change; that being said, where there’s a will (and a credit card), there’s a way when it comes to classic cars. When Sir Rod Stewart has already taken your Ferrari away from factory spec, you’re surely free to tweak and change as you please.

The asking price for this one is £150k, which actually puts it towards the lower end of the Testarossa market. Higher mileage cars without the celebrity ownership are closer to £130k, while the very lowest mileage examples are up near £200,000 (told you Testarossas were sought after these days). Like so many old cars that can offer up experiences no longer available in new ones - it’s an open-gated 12-cylinder Ferrari - the demand for them doesn’t look like going far. And there’ll always be a buyer for this one. Da Ya Think I’m Sexy will never sound quite the same again…

By ROB HULL, MOTORING EDITOR

A seventies Mercedes-Benz with 'rare cultural provenance' will be sold at auction in November and spark a bidding war between car collectors and seventies rock fanatics.

The 1972 W114 250 is the motor once owned by the Modfather himself, Paul Weller.

Iconic Auctioneers says the guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band The Jam even penned some of his hits at the wheel of the classic German model and has even graced the centre console with his signature.

Finished in Midnight Blue paint with a cream interior, the Mercedes joined the Weller household as a gift for the artist's 38th birthday in 1996, sourced by his father and long-term manager, John.

It became the family's school-run and everyday companion, and over the years Weller penned wrote several songs in the car, including 'Driving Nowhere' from his fourth solo album, as well as 'Heavy Soul' and 'All on a Misty Morning' from his eighth album 'As Is Now'.

This wasn't out of the ordinary for Weller, who famously rattled out the lyrics for The Jam's hit song 'That's Entertainment' en route back from the pub in a taxi in less than half an hour.

Paul Weller pictured with the 1972 Mercedes he owned for 18 years between 1996 and 2014. The car is now set to be sold to the highest bidder

The car was the Weller family's school-run and everyday companion, and over the years Weller penned wrote several songs in the car

After 18 years of reliable ownership, Weller eventually sold the seventies German classic car in 2014.

It was snapped up by Andy Ash of Andy's Autobarn, a car body repair shop in Ashford, who would have been best placed to treat the Mercedes to a well-deserved restoration.

But before he could take on the project, a chance meeting with the current vendor - a huge Weller fan - saw it change hands once again.

After its 'in-depth' refurbishment was commissioned and completed in 2018, Weller's manager, Charles Rees, invited the owner to drive the motor to the songwriter's Black Barn Studio near Woking in Surrey so he could be reunited with his former school-run hack.

It is during this meet that the singer scribed his autograph onto the plastic centre console panel for ultimate authentication.

Hits including 'Driving Nowhere' from his fourth solo album, as well as 'Heavy Soul' and 'All on a Misty Morning' from his eighth album 'As Is Now', were all reportedly composed at the wheel of this very Mercedes-Benz

Weller famously rattled out the lyrics for The Jam's hit song 'That's Entertainment' en route back from the pub in a taxi in less than half an hour

Since then, it has appeared at exhibitions and ferried fans on 'Tufty Tours' - the guided trip around Weller’s childhood homes, schools, youth clubs, rehearsal rooms, pubs, gig locations, video shoots and song inspirations - to help raise funds for charities, all with the Weller family's blessing.

It will go to the block at Iconic Auctioneers' Collectors' Car Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show on Saturday 8 November in 'well-restored and very well-presented' condition and a mileage of just 80,743.

Despite its incredible pedigree and collectability, the auction house has issued a rather conservative estimate of £40,000 to £50,000.

Commenting on the car's availability, Rob Hubbard, managing director at the auction house, said: 'Cars with genuine cultural provenance are rare.

'This W114 links music and motoring in a way that speaks to enthusiasts and fans alike, and it sits comfortably alongside everything we sell, from attainable modern classics to sought-after collectors' cars.

'We are proud to present it at the NEC.'

Mercedes-Benz introduced the W114 in 1968 as part of its efforts to broaden the brand's appeal.

It combined independent coil-sprung suspension all round, four-wheel disc brakes, and a reworked four-speed automatic transmission, which is present in Weller's old motor.

The 250 sat towards the upper end of the W114 range and used a 2.8-litre straight-six engine producing around 128bhp.

In the seventies, Mercedes claimed it could hit a top speed of 106mph, and at the time it received plenty of praise for its build quality and impressive combination of sharp steering and road holding.

And Weller's Merc isn't the only car with a celebrity owner on the logbook that's heading to the auction room shortly.

On 20 September, Historics Auctioneers will present to collectors the opportunity to bid for actor Jude Law's 16-year-old Audi S8.

The luxury saloon model - which is powered by a Lamborghini-derived 5.8-litre V10 engine - was purchased new by 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and 'Closer' film star in 2009.

With just 63,239 miles on the clock, the guide price issued ahead of the Pace of Autumn sale at Ascot Racecourse is a relative bargain at £11,000 to £16,000. Even at the upper end of the estimate, that's around the same price as a new Dacia Sandero for an A-list-owned premium Audi with a Lambo motor.

On 20 September, Historics Auctioneers will present to collectors the opportunity to bid for actor Jude Law's 16-year-old Audi S8. It is predicted to sell for an absolute snip

John Terry's 2004 Aston Martin Vanquish is also being sold at the same Historics Auctioneers sale this month. It has only 26,500 miles on the clock and is expected to go for less than £50k

Terry would have been driving the Aston during the historic 2004-05 season when he captained Chelsea to the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion

Also offered at the same auction is Chelsea and England legend John Terry's 2004 Aston Martin Vanquish.

The former blues captain had the luxury British sports car for around three years until 2007, meaning it was in his possession when he first lifted the Premier League trophy at the end of the 2004–05 season in a record-breaking year where Chelsea conceded the fewest goals and kept the most clean sheets in history.

He still owned the Aston the following season why, guided by Jose Mourinho, Chelsea successfully retained the crown.

With a mere 26,500 miles on the odometer, Historics has predicted a sale figure of between £38,000 and £46,000 for the 460bhp V12-engined thoroughbred.

Daniel Ricciardo’s Aston Martin Valkyrie heads to auction

Broad Arrow Auctions is set to make waves at its inaugural Zoute Concours Auction this October, and the star attraction is none other than the Aston Martin Valkyrie once owned and personally commissioned by Formula One legend Daniel Ricciardo. With production of Aston Martin’s halo hypercar ending in late 2024, opportunities to acquire one are already rare. Add Ricciardo’s motorsport pedigree to the mix, and chassis number 089 instantly becomes one of the most desirable Valkyries in existence.

The Valkyrie represents one of the purest transfers of F1 technology to the road. Developed by Aston Martin in collaboration with Red Bull Racing and guided by the genius of Adrian Newey, the car pushes boundaries of aerodynamics and engineering. At its heart sits a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated Cosworth V12, paired with a hybrid KERS system, producing a staggering 1,000 horsepower and revving all the way to 11,100 rpm. For anyone who has heard one at full chat, it’s as close to Formula One theatre as you can experience with number plates attached.

Ricciardo himself summed it up best: “It feels like a race car, and it looks like a race car. I’m not used to having a roof over my head, but otherwise, it’s a pretty straight-up race car.”

Commissioned through Aston Martin’s Q bespoke division, Ricciardo’s Valkyrie wears Dichroic Dawn paintwork—a £30,000 option he nicknamed ‘Badger Blue’ in homage to his “Honey Badger” persona. The colour shifts in the light, accentuating the Valkyrie’s extreme curves and aerodynamic surfaces.

Other standout details include:

Exposed satin carbon fibre elements, including the suspension shrouds.

Ultra-lightweight magnesium wheels finished in matte black with custom Badger Blue centres.

A cabin lined in Pure Black debossed Alcantara with satin carbon trim.

Removable steering wheel with silver-anodised toggle switches.

Carbon fibre bucket seats with silver contrast stitching.

With just 160 km on the odometer, Ricciardo’s Valkyrie has lived a pampered life in his private collection, making it essentially factory-fresh.

Set for 10 October 2025 at the Approach Golf, Knokke-Heist, the Broad Arrow Zoute Concours Auction will feature around 70 collectible cars. But Ricciardo’s Valkyrie, estimated between €2.4m and €2.8m, will undoubtedly be the headline act.

As Ricciardo himself puts it: “Will we ever see another car like this again? I can’t predict the future. But when you ask if it is the pinnacle of road legal technology, then yes, I think it is.”

For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this is more than just a hypercar. It’s a piece of motorsport history wrapped in one of the most extreme road cars ever built.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss made its debut at the 2009 North American International Auto Show as a stripped-down, high-performance speedster that dazzles both in speed and style. Limited to just 75 units and reserved for existing SLR owners, it serves as a contemporary tribute to the legendary 300 SLR driven by Stirling Moss to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia.

Based on the SLR 722 Edition, it features carbon-fiber bodywork overseen by designer Yoon II-hun. A hand-built, supercharged 5.4-liter SLR AMG V8 launches the car to 60 mph in about three seconds and to a top speed of 217 mph. Drawing inspiration from the original 300 SLR, the Stirling Moss edition features a dramatic open-cockpit design with no roof, windows, or windscreen. Its lightweight carbon-fiber body has an elongated silhouette, dual rear fairings, and signature twin side-exit titanium exhausts.

This example now offered for sale on PCARMARKET shows only 643 miles. It is finished in Antimony Grey Crystal with silver brake calipers and 19-inch lightweight multispoke alloys. The model is further distinguished by exclusive front and rear fascias, a carbon-fiber rear diffuser, exposed carbon-fiber side coves, large hood vents, and a manually adjustable air brake that tilts up to 35 degrees for added downforce.

The interior is trimmed in black leather with white contrast stitching, complemented by extensive carbon fiber and aluminum accents. Features include one-piece bucket seats, analog gauges, aluminum pedals, and a leather and Alcantara steering wheel. Stirling Moss’s engraved signature is set into the aluminum trim behind the shifter.

Bid to win a Mini piece of Top Gear TV history

A battered 1990 Rover Mini, made famous by a starring role on Top Gear, is currently up for sale.

Offered online by Iconic Auctioneers, the Mini Cooper was used by Chris Harris during the BBC TV show’s Ethiopian special challenge.

Still wearing the battle scars collected on its epic adventure, the Mini has now returned to the UK and is looking for a new owner.

The timed online auction for this small piece of TV history is already live. Bids can be placed until 7pm on Thursday 28 August 2025.

Filmed for the first episode of Top Gear season 27, the G-registered red Mini arrived on TV screens in June 2019.

It marked the start of a new era for Top Gear, with acclaimed journalist Chris Harris joined by Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuiness to present the show.

The trio were each given £4,000 to purchase an example of the first car they owned, before embarking on a journey through Ethiopia.

Harris bought the Mini Cooper, noted as being in respectable condition before it was subjected to the abuses of a Top Gear challenge.

Although the exterior of the Mini is in need of some obvious attention, it is still said to start and run.

Unsurprisingly, it does not have a current MOT certificate, but it retains the registration number used during filming for Top Gear.

Rob Hubbard, managing director at Iconic Auctioneers, said: “Cars with genuine screen provenance always capture attention, and this plucky Mini will be familiar to many Top Gear viewers. It is a fun, attainable piece of television and motoring culture, and we are pleased to present it in our timed online auction.”

Taking into account its on-screen history, Iconic Auctioneers has given a guide price of £8,000 to £10,000 for the now-famous Mini.

Here's your chance to buy one of the most beloved sports sedans of the 1980s, which was once owned by a Formula 1 icon. It's the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3-1.6 that belonged to legendary driver Ayrton Senna, which is the star of an upcoming RM Sotheby's auction in London in November. The car has an estimated value of €255,000 to €290,000 ($296,346 to $337,021 at today's exchange rate).

And it's not just "any" 190. This is Senna's personal car, purchased by the Brazilian champion in 1985, immediately after his resounding success at the Nürburgring at the Race of Champions, one of the races that marked the beginning of his legendary racing career.

On May 12, 1984, the young Senna, then making his Formula 1 debut in a Toleman, was invited by Mercedes to participate in a celebratory race to mark the opening of the new Nürburgring GP-Strecke circuit. At the start were 20 of the biggest names in motorsport at the time, including Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, and Carlos Reutemann. All were racing in the new 190 E 2.3-16, prepared in race configuration.

In rainy conditions, Senna stunned the world: starting third, he beat Lauda and Prost, bringing his Smoke Silver Metallic-colored car to the finish line ahead of a grid of established champions. It was on that occasion that the Brazilian decided he wanted to own a 190 of his own.

Senna's Mercedes 190

Senna ordered this Mercedes directly from the factory in 1985. He picked it up in Stuttgart with compatriot Mauricio Gugelmin, driving it to his residence in Esher, England. The car, with Smoke Silver Metallic paint and black leather interior, has its original documentation, certifying Senna's purchase. It comes with the factory invoice, registration papers, and tax receipts in his name.

Senna drove it for two years, accumulating just under 28,000 miles, before selling it in 1987 in anticipation of moving to Monaco and joining McLaren. In subsequent years, the 190 changed hands a few times, including with the current owner, who purchased it in 1996 and relocated to Australia with it in 2004.

Today, the car has just under 155,343 miles and retains several unique details, such as Niki Lauda's signature affixed to the engine compartment at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Still included are the tool kit, the Becker Mexico stereo, the original fire extinguisher, and even the never-opened first aid kit.

For fans and collectors, therefore, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to have not just a Mercedes, but an authentic piece of Senna's history in your garage.

By ROB HULL, MOTORING EDITOR

A 20-year-old Range Rover with almost 120,000 miles on the clock that once belonged to late Queen Elizabeth II has sold at auction for over ten times its typical market value.

Iconic Auctioneers sold Her Majesty's personal 2006 supercharged Range Rover V8 - a vehicle that graced the hallowed Royal garage for two years - on Saturday.

Despite having relatively high mileage for a car with such esteemed heritage, the auto auction specialist had still placed a guide price on its roof of £50,000 to £70,000.

Given models with the same engine and fewer miles are available for between £9,000 and £16,000 on the open market, the pre-auction estimate was well above the usual price of a well-used 2006 Range Rover.

But a fierce bidding war between two collectors - one from the Caribbean and the other Japan - saw the guide price shattered, with the car eventually selling for a six-figure sum so steep that it's now the world record sale for an L322 Range Rover.

Commenting in the wake of the stellar sale, the auction house said it had been a 'great honour and absolute privilege to be able to offer this car, which has such a fascinating history and provenience'.

This 20-year-old Range Rover with almost 120,000 miles on the clock that once belonged to late Queen Elizabeth II has sold at auction for over ten times its typical market value

Unlike other Royal rides from the past that have been made available at auction with little photographic evidence of HRH ownership, Queen Elizabeth II was pictured using this vehicle - registration BJ06 ZGM - during the Windsor Horse Show in May 2007

Despite Jaguar Land Rover holding a Royal Warrant for the best part of 75 years and the family issued hundreds of vehicles over decades, this particular vehicle is unique. The Queen pictured stepping out of the SUV at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on 11 May 2007

The 2006 Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE, delivered from new to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that year, eventually sold for £175,500 inclusive of auction fees.

An auction house insider told the Daily Mail: 'There was great interest in this Range Rover with bidding steadily climbing up to £150,000 leaving just two bidders, one from the Caribbean and one from Japan, who battled it up to £156,000 on the hammer, selling to the Caribbean buyer, setting a new auction world record.'

The enormous winning bid is not just a new world record but a significant mark-up on the usual price paid for a 20-year-old Range Rover.

A quick search of Auto Trader turned up two 2006 Vogue models with the same 4.2-litre V8 supercharged motor with similar mileage.

One, with 115,000 miles is listed for £8,750, while another with just 95k on the clock is up for £15,980.

That said, the car was expected to generate plenty of demand, having been delivered to the Royal household by the British brand's bespoke car department in 2006 and relieved of its official obligations in 2008.

The 2006 Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE, delivered from new to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that year, eventually sold for a hammer price of £156,000 - rising to £175,500 inclusive of auction fees

An auction house insider in the room on Saturday told the Daily Mail: 'There was great interest in this Range Rover with bidding steadily climbing up to £150k leaving just two bidders, one from the Caribbean and one from Japan, who battled it up to £156k on the hammer, selling to the Caribbean buyer, setting a new auction world record'

The enormous winning bid is not just a new world record but a significant mark-up on the usual price paid for a well-used 20-year-old Range Rover...

We found a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE for sale online with 25,000 fewer miles for less than £16,000. That means the amount paid over the weekend for the Queen's former Royal ride (pictured) was more than 10 times the typical market price

Iconic Auctioneers said the car had been 'exclusively used by Her Majesty' during this two-year spell and its availability represented 'a rare opportunity to acquire a historically important, exquisitely presented, and uniquely specified Royal Range Rover'.

Unlike other Royal rides from the past that have been made available at auction with little photographic evidence of HRH ownership, Queen Elizabeth II was pictured using this vehicle - registration BJ06 ZGM - during the Windsor Horse Show in May 2007.

The car, carrying the same number plate today (another rare feature of ex-Royal vehicles), also has another distinct feature that's unique to Her Majesty's private collection.

The British Royal Family have, for many years, displayed mascots on their personal vehicles. For instance, King Charles has specified having a Welsh Dragon motif on some of his models, including his vintage Aston Martin DB6.

For Queen Elizabeth II, her choice was a Lejeune Labrador with Pheasant mascot. And that is still in place on the Range Rover's bonnet today.

And despite Jaguar Land Rover holding a Royal Warrant for the best part of 75 years - and the family issued hundreds of vehicles over decades - this particular model is unique.

The auction house believes it is the only L322 Range Rover ever owned by the Royal Family that's equipped with the Jaguar-derived 4.2-litre supercharged eight-cylinder engine - which it says provided 'powerful yet dignified performance befitting its Royal duties'.

The Range Rover was originally supplied to the Royal residence by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations - the department specialising in bespoke motors that's also commissioned to customise its cars being delivered to individuals connect to the monarch

This Range Rover has a selection of 'meticulously prepared' features requested for it to best perform its prestigious duties

Even the paint is a unique Royal Household shade, called Tonga Green. This contrasts an Oxford Sand leather interior, with cabin panels and trims finished in extended burr walnut

The Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) plaque fixed to the car shows it was signed off on 25 April 2006 at its Lodge Lane site in Solihull in the West Midlands

This one has a selection of 'meticulously prepared' features requested for its prestigious duties.

This includes upgraded internal wiring to support the increased security and communications technology installed into the motor between 2006 and 2008.

There appears to be a blue tint on the front and rear clusters, suggesting it still has the blue flashing light system it was equipped with to clear traffic fast when needed during its official deployment.

The potent 4X4 has been fitted with rear grab handles and a side step - modifications designed for Her Majesty to enter and exit the high-riding SUV with greater ease.

Although the rear grab handles were removed after its Royal service, evidence of their original placement remains subtly visible.

It comes with bespoke mud flaps - with the Queen eager to use the vehicle off-road at her various residence - and a bespoke dog guard to keep her Pembroke Welsh Corgis safe in the back.

Even the paint is a unique Royal Household shade called Tonga Green. This contrasts an Oxford Sand leather interior, with cabin panels and trims finished in extended burr walnut.

Land Rover's SVO plaque on the car shows it was signed off on 25 April 2006.

During her ownership, HM Queen Elizabeth II likely put a few thousand miles on it.

The car's MOT record shows that by April 2009 - around a year after it was released from the Royal Household - it had clocked just under 18,000 miles.

When it appeared in the auction room during the Silverstone Auction Collector's Car sale on Saturday, the odometer was showing 119,938 miles.

The paperwork confirms that it has endured little use in recent years, adding just 202 miles since early 2023.

However, from the years 2018 to 2022, it covered around 10,000 miles per annum as former keepers refused to limit its use to protect its value.

Having appraised the motor before the sale, the auction company said it was in 'exemplary condition throughout', adding: 'The bodywork has been exceptionally well preserved, free from common corrosion issues found in many Range Rovers of this era.'

It added that it had recently been serviced and been treated to a 'comprehensive paint correction' as well as being fitted with brand-new marque-correct Pirelli Scorpion tyres.

Accompanying the vehicle was an 'extensive history file', which included the original blue leather wallet, handbooks, and detailed service records.

Rob Hubbard, managing director at Iconic Auctioneers, exclusively told the Daily Mail before the sale: 'Vehicles with such distinguished provenance rarely enter the market, making this an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

'Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s personal Range Rover combines automotive excellence with an unmatched historical significance.'

Hubbard said he had anticipated it would receive 'considerable interest' as had been the case with other Royal vehicles the automotive auction specialist had offered at the block in previous years.

Launched in 2002, the L322 Range Rover quickly established itself as an automotive icon admired for its refined blend of luxury, performance, and versatility.

The 2006 facelift brought numerous enhancements, notably new headlights, a ZF six-speed gearbox, revised air suspension, updated infotainment systems, and discreet styling touches including mesh grilles, polished tailpipes, and subtle 'Supercharged' badging.

Jaguar Land Rover's Royal Warrant dates back to 1951.

With Jeremy Clarkson’s Ecuadorian racing green Alfa Romeo 75 going under the hammer tomorrow, the same company that’s selling it, Iconic Auctioneers, has another former Top Gear star car lined up and ready to auction off later this month.

It’s a classic Mini, although not the one driven by Hammond in the India Special, or even the one launched off a ski jump in the Winter Olympics Special. In fact, you might be disappointed to learn it doesn’t hail the Clarkson-Hammond-May era at all, but it does come from what most would agree was the show’s second-best modern iteration.

Ex-Top Gear Rover Mini - detail

That was the one fronted by Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff. In fact this car featured in that trio’s very first episode, where the presenters bought examples of what they’d had as their first cars and took them on a gruelling trip across Ethiopia.

Like so many others, Harris cut his teeth behind the wheel of an original Mini, and bought this 1990 1.0-litre Rover-badged example for the challenge, during which it racked up a fair few bangs and scrapes.

Ex-Top Gear Rover Mini - interior

Viewers of those later series might remember the car then being used as a piece of set dressing along with the other two cars from that episode, McGuinness’ Mk2 Ford Escort and Flintoff’s Porsche Boxster. Since the show came grinding to an indefinite halt in unfortunate circumstances, though, the Mini’s been part of a private collection.

During that time, it’s been kept in a running and driving condition, although it’ll surprise precisely nobody to learn that it doesn’t have an MOT, and hasn’t since 2019. It is showing only 36,400 miles, though, and despite its less-than-ideal condition, the general appetite for classic Minis plus its TV provenance means Iconic reckons it’ll fetch between £8000 and £10,000 when the online auction ends on 28 August. As a reminder, in the original episode, the presenters had a budget of £4000 to buy their cars.

Ex-Top Gear Rover Mini - rear

If you fancy a classic Mini restoration project, then, and absolutely insist it must have been driven across Ethiopia on the telly, this is quite literally the only car for you. The auction is open now, with bidding up to £900 at the time of writing.

A Range Rover used by Queen Elizabeth II during her record-breaking reign could sell for a stunning £70,000 at auction. The former monarch’s personal 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged vehicle is tipped to hit the hammer for anywhere between £50,000 and £70,000.

The car is one of the star attractions at this weekend’s Collectors’ Car Sale from Iconic Auctioneers, taking place during the Silverstone Festival. Her Majesty used the vehicle between 2006 and 2008 and has even been photographed standing next to the model to certify its authenticity. The Range Rover has undergone a range of special modifications which were commissioned by the Royal Household.

Updates include the fitting of internal wiring for enhanced security and communications as well as the installation of rear grab handles to aid entry and exit. The Range Rover is still fitted with the silver labrador mascot that was only fitted to the Queen’s personal vehicles.

Rob Hubbard, managing director and principal auctioneer of Iconic Auctioneers, said: "Vehicles with such distinguished provenance rarely enter the market, making this an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s personal Range Rover combines automotive excellence with an unmatched historical significance. We anticipate considerable interest in this vehicle as has been the case with other Royal vehicles we have offered."

In comparison, almost identical second-hand Range Rover models from around the same period are priced at under £10,000 on AutoTrader. According to Iconic Auctioneers, this particular model is believed to be the only L322 Range Rover ever owned by the Royal Household that was fitted with a Jaguar-derived 4.2-litre Supercharged V8.

The Range Rover is finished in Tonga Green, the traditional shade used by the Royal Household. The vehicle has covered just under 120,000 miles, but experts claim the model still remains in exemplary condition.

The Queen’s former car is set to be sold with an extensive history file including extras such as the original blue leather wallet, handbooks, and detailed service records.

Iconic Auctioneers added: “Interested parties are warmly encouraged to come and view the vehicle in person at the Festival prior to bidding, and to register to bid in advance to secure the chance to own this exceptional Royal vehicle.”

Motorists wishing to be there when the car goes to auction can follow all of the proceedings at the Silverstone Festival.

Movies often feature cars that us real-world mortals can barely dream of. Human-vehicle hybrids, six-wheeled tanks, an AMC Pacer that runs without issue; those vehicles often remain forever out of our grasp, but fans of the last of that list may well get their day later this week — or, at least, the chance to own an AMC Pacer with a licorice dispenser and a Queen cassette in the deck. One of three "Wayne's World" Mirthmobiles is hitting the auction block as part of the liquidation of Rodz & Bodz, a movie car museum out in Colorado, and it's not alone. Screen-used vehicles from "Austin Powers," "The Flinstones," "Fast & Furious," "Ghostbusters," and more are all going up for sale this Saturday.

The auction features 56 vehicles, nearly all of which have some provenance in film or TV. Many are replicas or were used only on the promotional tours for films, but some have apparently been properly screen-matched to their respective media. Highlights include a villain snowmobile from "Spectre," a Corbin Sparrow from "Goldmember," and Dominic Toretto's own Dodge Charger from "Fast & Furious" and "Fast Five." The replica cars go further still, with vehicles from "Knight Rider," Stranger Things," and "Zombieland" featured. Even the early Fast movies get their due, with replicas of Brian's Eclipse, Jesse's (dad's) Jetta, and the heist Civics appearing in the auction.

Kraft Auction Services

The replicas aren't always perfect — Brian's Eclipse wore one-piece Axis Se7en wheels in the film, not these Motegi FF7s — but they're still neat to see. The actual screen-used cars, though, are the really interesting ones. You could own a Ford Gran Torino that really had Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson's butts in it! That's worth something. Probably. To someone.

Movie cars are extremely neat, and owning one is an opportunity few will ever have. Days ahead of the auction's end, though, these bids still seem reasonable — that screen-used "Fast & Furious" Charger is only up to $20,000 at time of writing. The Ecto-1, admittedly from the 2016 "Ghostbusters" rather than the 1984 original, has only been bid up to $12,000. You, dear reader, could own a genuine movie car used by the genuine movie stars.

A Colorado movie car museum is auctioning off more than 60 vehicles from its collection as the owner seeks to build a new location. That means you have the chance to purchase a range of cool cars from Hollywood history, with most items offered at no reserve.

The collection for sale includes a range of vehicles, from screen-used cars like the Flintstones’ Rubble Racer to a recreation of the Sheep Dog van from Dumb and Dumber. You can also buy the Ecto-1 from the 2016 Ghostbusters film, one of four 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood hearses built for the film, the 1974 Ford Gran Torino from the 2004 Starsky and Hutch remake, several Fast and Furious cars, and more.

As The Drive notes, the museum is also auctioning around 400 other items, including movie memorabilia, vintage signs, gas pumps, and other bits of automotive culture and history. You’ll find a replica British telephone booth, an old dental chair, and a screen-used electric chair from American Horror Story: Asylum.

Rodz and Bodz began operating in 2017, founded by Zack Loffert, as a prop rental business that rents vehicles out for weddings, entertainment, and more. Over the years, he added enough cars to his collection to open a museum. While the museum will close ahead of the location’s planned redevelopment, Rodz and Bodz will continue to operate its rental business.

Before closing on August 3, the museum had over 80 cars on display out of a collection of more than 180. The new location will have a “immersive museum experience," Loffert told the Englewood Herald. "When you walk in, you’re essentially walking into movie sets. It’ll literally feel like you’re in Hollywood."

The auction begins on Friday, and there are two listings available over two days that you can view here and here.

Dua Lipa's one-off Porsche 911 GT3 RS is for sale at auction now

The car, revealed at the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, features a unique turquoise, red, green and yellow paint scheme.

The final auction price is expected to significantly exceed the standard GT3 RS MSRP of around $250,000.

One of the only things louder than pop music fans screaming at a concert of their favorite artists is the sound of a naturally aspirated flat-six engine revving to 9,000 RPMs.

If you are a Porsche 911 enthusiast, or a fan of Dua Lipa's music ― or both ― then an ongoing auction will catch your attention. RM Sotheby's is offering a one-off Porsche "Dua Lipa Rennstall" GT3 RS at auction from now till July 31. The proceeds will go to the Sunny Hill Foundation, which will aid Kosovan culture and arts.

The three-time Grammy-winning artist partnered with Porsche AG and Radical22 to bring the vehicle to life. The car was first revealed at the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix back in May.

It takes the illustrious GT3 RS and makes it even more unique. Equipped with 518 horsepower and a massive wing supplying downforce, this 911 is a dedicated track weapon. With the Weissach package optioned, lightweight drivetrain components and magnesium wheels cut up to 33 pounds to maximize the cars performance capabilities.

While the car may drive like every other GT3 RS, the one-of-a-kind paint scheme makes it stand out from the rest. The vibrant version displays turquoise, red, green and yellow on the body of the car to pair with its bright red wheels. "Dua Lipa Rennstall" logos can be found on different parts of the exterior. The interior is full of black leather with red stitching.

Born in the United Kingdom to Kosovo Albanian parents, Dua Lipa founded the Sunny Hill Foundation in 2018 to provide support for Kosovan communities. Thirty scholarships for young women in Kosovo have been awarded by the organization, giving recipients access to careers in STEM. 17 NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) and cultural centers have been supported by the organization as well.

For a brand new 992-generation 911 GT3 RS, the starting manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) hovers around $250,000 before options.

Considering how strongly GT3 RS models have been holding their value in recent years, the price will be much higher than when the vehicle was first released. The fact that this special model is a one-off with a collaboration from a very famous musician will make it cost a pretty penny.

We will have to wait for the results to see what the car will fetch at the auction. For more information on the vehicle, go to rmsothebys.com.

Bid to own a Porsche 911 GT3 designed by Dua Lipa

The Porsche 911 GT3 is already a highly desirable sports car, but now you could own a unique example designed by Dua Lipa.

A Porsche ambassador, the award-winning singer and songwriter has created her dream version of the track-focused GT3.

Unveiled at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, Dua Lipa and her one-off Porsche also made an appearance at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Now, the ‘Dua Lipa Rennstall Collection 911 GT3’ is being auctioned online by RM Sotheby’s. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity.

When specifying her 2024 Porsche 911 GT3, Dua Lipa opted for subtle Arctic Grey paintwork. This has been covered with a bold wrap, in bright colours inspired by the Mediterranean.

The centre-lock magnesium wheels have been finished in Pyro Red, with calipers for the carbon ceramic brakes painted yellow.

Clearly knowing her performance Porsches, Dua ticked the box to add the Weissach Package to the 911 GT3. Using extra carbon fibre components, this saves 22kg of weight versus a regular GT3 with the Clubsport package.

Mechanically unchanged, the rear-mounted 4.0-litre flat-six engine generates 525hp, and is combined with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Accelerating from 0-62mph takes just 3.2 seconds, with a potential top speed of 184mph – despite the downforce generated by the aero kit.

Dua Lipa left the 911 GT3’s interior relatively simple, opting for a combination of black leather and Race-Tex upholstery, complete with Guards Red stitching.

More Guards Red is used for the tachometer and dashboard-mounted Sport Chrono stopwatch. The car also benefits from a front axle lift system.

All the proceeds generated by the sale of the Dua Lipa Rennstall GT3 RS will be donated to the Sunny Hill Foundation. Created by the pop superstar in 2018, the charity funds arts and culture in the Kosovan community.

The online auction for the 911 GT3 is now live on the RM Sotheby’s website and will remain open until 31 July 2025. A guide price of €400,000 (£346,000) before taxes has been set.

The Fast and Furious franchise has gifted the world some stunning movie cars, and several have rolled across the auction block. The latest to find a new owner is the 1992 Mazda RX-7 FD from 2006’s Tokyo Drift, the third installment, which just sold for a whopping £911,000 (or $1.2 million) at a Bonhams auction.

It’s believed to be one of two surviving examples used during filming, driven by Sung Kang’s character Han. The car features a body kit from VeilSide Fortune, the Japanese aftermarket specialist, and it was primarily used for static or close-up shots. The Mazda retains signs of being a movie car, like the camera mount marks and “#71 HANS” labels throughout the coupe.

It measures more than 7.9 inches than a stock FD and only retains the car’s original roof and tailgate. It wears pearlescent orange paint and 19-inch Andrew Premier Series Racing Evolution 5 wheels with Pirelli P Zero Nero tires, which measure 12.0 inches wide at the rear.

The car underwent a comprehensive overhaul before being sold, with RE-Amemiya rebuilding the RX-7’s twin-rotor turbocharged engine. The car has 66,785 miles in total, but has only traveled 5,000 since the maintenance work. However, it has been sitting.

The Mazda’s $1.2 million price tag outshines the 1994 Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker, which sold for $550,000 in 2021. However, Walker’s 2000 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R by Kaizo Industries sold for $1.35 million in 2023.

Time has aged The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift into a classic, and rightfully so. A spinoff with new characters that wasn’t really folded into the series’ overarching narrative until years later, the 2006 movie further popularized JDM culture and, specifically, drifting in the U.S. and around the world. The cars in it have become icons in their own right, too, though perhaps none as strongly as Sung Kang‘s character Han’s orange-and-black FD Mazda RX-7 equipped with a VeilSide Fortune bodykit. One of the running examples built for the film was just auctioned this past weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it sold for an eye-watering $1,225,568.

This RX-7 is the real deal, Bonhams says. It wasn’t one of those fakes built to take a beating, like an R34 GT-R shell with a Beetle powertrain. Universal Studios commissioned this car from VeilSide, and the Fortune kit touches every exterior element on the RX-7 aside from its roof and tailgate. They also slapped on some 19-inch Andrew Premier Series Racing Evolution 5 wheels, which look stunning in full polished aluminum.

Next, the coupe was handed over to tuner RE Amemiya, who lavished the same TLC on its engine. Han’s ride also received a Blitz exhaust, as well as a new clutch, brakes, and coilover suspension. The whole package is said to weigh about 2,315 pounds, and is tuned for stock output. That means an “official” figure of 276 horsepower, but we all know how underrated these cars were from the factory.

Clearly this RX-7 wasn’t abused for Hollywood; Bonhams reports it was used only for static and stunt scenes, and never for drifting. In other words, it wasn’t the car that actually ripped a big, fat powerslide through Shibuya Crossing with no permission—it just looks like it.

Because no 2000s tuner car was complete without a heavy-bass aftermarket sound system, this RX-7 has an Alpine setup “twin amplifiers and multiple loudspeakers,” and you can see the goods through the split rear window. There’s even a prop to keep the gate lifted, to show it all off. Hey, we laugh, but over-the-top audio counted for a lot in street cred back in the day. Also note the separate screen on the passenger’s side of the dash, though there’s no telling what it actually does. Maybe you can hook an Xbox 360 up to it, for the ultimate 2006 experience.

When modified, this RX-7 had about 61,000 miles on it; afterwards, another 5,000 were logged. A few years after filming wrapped, a U.K.-based importer took the car. Hopefully the new owner doesn’t consign it to a museum piece, but they should know that, given how long the car has sat still, it should probably get a checkup before reenacting any events from the silver screen.

Movie cars tend to go one of two ways at auction. They either go unnoticed and sell for what they’re worth (or less) as some regular, everyday car, because no one liked the movie or they were simply peripheral to the plot. The shabby $2300 Chevy Impala driven by Kate Bosworth in the 2002 film Blue Crush is a prime example. Or, as we witnessed this week at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction, movie cars go BIG.

The dust from that auction is still settling, but when the hammer fell on the 1992 Mazda RX-7 Veilside Fortune Coupe from 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the all-in £911,000 ($1,229,434) sale price became a record for RX-7s, for Mazda road cars, and for F&F movie cars.

This RX-7, like all cars from that never-ending movie franchise, was heavily modified. Universal Studios commissioned Japanese body-kit supplier Veilside Co. Ltd. to turn the sumptuous FD-generation Mazda into something nearly unrecognizable, adding almost 8 inches in width and altering every body panel save the roof. It’s enough to get the side-eye from someone cruising Miami Beach in a Koenig Specials 911.

On screen, it was driven by Sung Kang’s character Han, a retired drifter, and was used primarily for static and stunt scenes, but not drifting, and is one of two such RX-7s that remain from the film. The odometer shows nearly 67,000 miles, though a full rebuild to stock specs of the 280-hp twin-turbo rotary engine took place 5000 miles ago. The Bonhams catalog entry states: “Spared the abuse often dished out to high-profile movie cars, this RX-7 has been preserved in outstanding condition, both inside and out, and is well documented.”

Hagerty has tracked seven sales from the F&F movie franchise over the years, including that of the wild green Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by the late Paul Walker in the first film, which sold for $170,500 at Mecum Kissimmee in 2022, as well as the previous top seller, the 1994 Toyota Supra from movies one and two, which sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas in 2021 for the then-eye-watering sum of $550,000. That this RX-7 result doubles the Supra price speaks not just to the ongoing cultural appeal of the popular franchise (despite Tokyo Drift ranking 9th of the 11 films, according to Rotten Tomatoes) but to the determination of two resolute bidders.

Bonhams set a presale estimate of £250K–£350K ($338K–$473K) on the car, and it drew no shortage of attention ahead of the sale. Our UK valuation analyst, Richard Salmons, reports the car absolutely stood out in the sale room—a room that included a Mercedes-AMG ONE, a Bugatti Veyron, a Jag XJ 220, and the wildest Morgan 4/4 on the planet. Once it shot past the high estimate, bidding went back and forth, eventually bouncing along in £10,000 increments between the final two bidders until the hammer fell.

The result is more than a million bucks higher than the previous $107,500 record high sale we saw for a standard FD RX-7 back in 2023. And it’s almost a million bucks higher than the previous record for a Mazda road car, a $264K Cosmo sold by Gooding 11 years ago (a 1989 767B endurance racer holds the title of most expensive Mazda overall, at $1.75M, back in 2017). And as movie cars go, it’s certainly up there, though still a far cry from the $3.74M Mecum got for the 1968 Mustang featured in Bullitt.

Of all the cars to appear in the movies of the Fast & Furious franchise, this Veilside RX-7 is arguably the most memorable, so it’s difficult to imagine something else eclipsing this result. That said, with R34 Skyline GT-Rs still on an ever upward trajectory, we may just see Walker’s silver and blue 2 Fast 2 Furious ride shake things up when and if it ever appears for sale.

I sure hope they like it. Way over bid.

Wonder how much it would cost to return it to stock.

Nice color but I prefer the lines of a stock FD RX-7 myself. I never liked the body kit junk done to the cars in these movies.

Let’s just get to the story. A FD Mazda RX-7 used on set in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift just sold for over $1,000,000. Blimey.

Yes, we live in a universe where an RX-7 with a bodykit and a livery will cross the seven-figure mark in USD. Granted, we probably don’t need to tell you how special it is.

The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift Mazda RX-7

Sold just minutes before we wrote this story at Bonhams Cars’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction for £800,000 (approx $1.08m), this Veilside-built RX-7 was said to be primarily used for static scenes in 2006’s Tokyo Drift as well as a few stunt sequences, but not in any drift shots. And obviously not in Han’s death-wait-no-not-death scene. Spoilers, sorry.

It’s thought to be one of only two surviving cars used on set, from nine reportedly built for the film. No surprise, then, it also became the most expensive Mazda RX-7 ever to sell at auction.

The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift Mazda RX-7, engine

From pictures, the Veilside car looks in utterly pristine condition and even retains the Universal Studios production markings. Those include ‘#71 HANS’ labels dotted throughout, plus some small marks left by camera mounts. We hope whoever buys them leaves it in that condition, too.

Despite its condition and history, though, this isn’t some museum-piece non-runner. It’s a UK-registered car that’s covered 66,600 miles in its lifetime, with its twin-rotor turbocharged engine rebuilt by legendary tuner RE Amemiya around 5000 miles ago. On top of that, it’s just had a new clutch, coilovers, brakes and a Blitz exhaust system fitted.

The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift Mazda RX-7

It’s unclear at this stage who has bought the Mazda RX-7, but let’s hope they make themselves known in the near future. Partly because we just want to give them a round of applause for choosing to live a life we will eternally envy.

A 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS, first owned by motoring journalist and TV star Jeremy Clarkson, remains available to buy after failing to sell at auction.

Part of the recent RM Sotheby’s sale at Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, the targa-topped F355 had a guide price of between £180,000 and £220,000.

However, ‘Jezza’s’ Ferrari failed to find a winning bid, and is now available for £190,000 or the nearest offer. It might be your chance to own one of the best known modern classic Ferraris in Britain.

With its mid-mounted 380hp 3.5-litre V8 engine and six-speed manual gearbox, the F355 is acknowledged as one of Ferrari’s greatest hits.

Having driven an F355 for his 1996 Unleashed on Cars video, Jeremy Clarkson announced that he had to buy one for himself.

He ordered this F355 GTS from the official Maranello Sales dealership in Egham, Surrey, taking ownership in August 1996. At the time, the journalist and TV personality detailed in Top Gear magazine how he agonised over deciding the final spec.

In the end, Clarkson opted for classic Rosso Corsa paintwork, which is combined with Rosso carpets and Crema leather upholstery. Sports seats with Rosso inserts, a rare option, were also added.

The F355 appeared in Clarkson’s writing throughout the 1990s, covering around 6,000 miles in his first four years of ownership. In 2000, it was given away in a prize draw for the Sunday Times.

Owned by its lucky winner for three years, the F355 passed to a third keeper until 2013. Its most recent owner treated the car to fastidious maintenance, with an invoice for £9,345 paid in May this year.

With 14,899 miles on its odometer at the time of auction, the F355 comes with a history file detailing Clarkson’s ownership, along with relevant newspaper and magazine cuttings.

For those interested to own a Ferrari with a fascinating ownership story, enquiries about the F355 can be made to RM Sotheby’s.

By ROB HULL

There are plenty of iconic Bond cars. The Aston Martin DB5 from too many films in the franchise to list, the Lotus Esprit-turned submarine from The Spy Who Loved Me, and the Renault 11 taxi that has its roof lopped off in A View To A Kill to name just a few.

But none of these - or any other Aston Martin used in a 007 flick - was Roger Moore's most loved Bond car ever.

Instead, the one he said was his all-time favourite was the Citroen 2CV from the great chase scene in For Your Eyes Only (1981).

And one of the motors used in the all-action sequence is currently available at auction - after it was rescued from a Paris scrapyard.

It is the only 2CV from the movie to ever be offered for auction, despite being one of six cars trashed by the film crew to capture the seven-minute chase with Hector Gonzalez's men giving chase in a pair of Peugeot 504s through the outskirts of Madrid, Spain.

The month-long online sale is already up and running with the highest price offered so far of $120,000 (£89,000), though the company overseeing bidding is hoping for it to reach half a million dollars (around £370,000) by the time it ends on 17 July.

One of the yellow Citroen 3CVs from the famous chase scene in For Your Eyes Only (1981) is currently being auctioned - and it could go for half a million dollars

It is the only 2CV from the movie to ever be offered for sale at auction, despite being one of six cars trashed by the film crew to capture the seven-minute chase scene

The chase scene is remembered as one of the best Bond car sequences of all time.

Moore jumps into the passenger seat of Melina Havelock's (Carole Bouquet) dinky Citroen to escape the fun fire of Gonzalez's heavies.

To avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming coach in a small village, Havelock's evasive manoeuvre results in the 2CV rolling onto its roof.

With the help of a few locals, 007 flips the little Citroen back onto its four wheels and takes to the wheel of the diminutive French city car before receiving a bump start.

Out onto a snaking mountain road, the two Peugeots are in hot pursuit of the sun-colour Citroen, with one side-swiping Bond's 2CV into another barrel roll down the side of the pass, where it lands - partially crushed - on all fours before Bond puts it into reverse, driving backwards towards the next hairpin bend.

After disposing of one of the pursing 504s, Bond goes off-road through olive groves, delivering the famous line: 'Love a drive in the country, don't you?', before leaping over the remaining Peugeot and its henchmen in the seemingly indestructible French motor.

The chase scene is remembered as one of the best Bond car sequences of all time...

Racing through a small village on the outskirts of Madrid, Bond steers Melina Havelock's (played by Carole Bouquet) into a bag of cement that sends dust into the air to obscure the visibility of Hector Gonzalez's men who are opening fire while giving chase

The scene shows the 2CV first rolling onto its roof in the village and then barrel rolling down the side of a mountain pass - but Bond still manages to keep driving. Six Citroens were used for the seven-minute sequence, with all of them sustaining heavy damage

To capture the high-octane scene, all six specially converted 2CVs were battered.

This particular car started out as the pristine vehicle used at the very beginning of the chase scene and - despite sustaining plenty of damage - was one of three that withstood the destruction.

The production team customised three of the six cars for filming - though not all were the same.

They were fitted with a more powerful Citroën GS 1,015cc engine not commercially available in a 2CV (which used a smaller 602cc powertrain), adapting and reinforcing the interior and giving them reproduction Spanish-style number plates with the vinyl lettering M-1026-A.

A number plate made in England prior to filming was identifiable by small print on the plate which read 'TUCKERS BS AU 145'.

The online auction lot is live currently with Heritage Auctions and runs for a month until 17 July

The highest bid at the time of publishing was $120,000 (£89,000), though the Dallas-based auction house hopes it will eventually reach half a million dollars (around £370,000)

Once filming was complete, the three modified 2CVs had very different journeys; one was sold to UK collector Nigel Wild; another was retained by Citroen for its private collection; and the third - this car - was sent to a vehicle recycling facility in Paris before it was recovered

This car was used specifically for the driving shots with Moore and Bouquet, and so was not fitted with a roll cage as it would have been visible on camera.

Years later when recalling the famous chase sequence, director John Glen said: 'I love that scene; it was the complete opposite of what one would expect, it's usually an Aston Martin, so I thought let's go the absolute opposite end of the spectrum with a Deux Chevaux.'

When interviewed on BBC's Top Gear, Roger Moore proclaimed it to be his favourite Bond car and later wrote in his memoir: 'It was huge fun to drive down through olive groves in.'

Roger Moore, pictured here with Carole Bouquet in For Your Eyes Only, proclaimed the 2CV was his favourite Bond car and later wrote in his memoir: 'It was huge fun to drive down through olive groves in'

For Your Eyes Only was officially released on 26 June 1981 and was the 14th film in the Bond franchise

While the scenes are set in Spain, the filming took place on the island of Corfu in September 1980.

French precision stunt driver Rémy Julienne and his team handled the action shots using the other identical cars.

Once filming was complete, the three modified cars had very different lives; one was sold to UK collector Nigel Wild; another retained by Citroen for its private collection; and the third - this car - was sent to a vehicle recycling facility in Paris.

It was recovered by Philippe Wambergue, a collector and racer of Citroen cars, and acquired by the current owner in 2004.

To ensure this was one of the genuine Bond cars, the owner had Nigel Wild inspect this 2CV at Citromobile - a Citroen car exhibition in The Netherlands - where the owner of one of the other Bond-driven vehicles confirmed its authenticity.

As this 2CV was rescued from a scrapyard, it has been fitted with replacement but faithful period yellow doors and boot lid, yellow roof, and seats.

Areas of yellow paint are peeling, and it shows signs of production wear to both the bodywork and interior.

Heritage Auctions describes it as a 'prop car for display purposes only' and not a roadworthy vehicle. The winning bidder will be presented with a certificate of authenticity for the motor too.

'The wonderful thing about this car is that it is imbued with the daredevil spirit of Bond,' said Alastair McCrea, Heritage's director of entertainment & pop culture for the UK and Europe.

'The car chase is one of the most creative and imaginative action sequences of any Bond film, and it is easy to understand why Roger Moore favoured this car over some of the flashier models.

'Because the other surviving models from the film are in permanent homes, this will be the only opportunity to acquire one of the 2CVs that actually appeared on screen, and this is the one that had Roger Moore in it.'

Heritage Auctions describes it as a 'prop car for display purposes only' and not a roadworthy vehicle. The winning bidder will be presented with a certificate of authenticity for the motor too

This particular Bond 2CV was used specifically for the driving shots with Moore and Bouquet, and so was not fitted with a roll cage as it would have been visible on camera

Earlier this year, Citroen's global chief executive Thierry Koskas told This is Money that the 2CV could be reborn as a 21st century electric car.

In an interview with us, he said it will have the key virtues which made the original 2CV such a favourite first time around: simplicity, daring, comfort through clever suspension designed to deal with rough roads, practicality, value for money and – important in the modern era – strong green credentials.

Customers can expect to see a model on the market within two years - from 2027 - and other famous Citroen nameplates could also make a sensational return to the market, he indicated.

‘We want some of our iconic models to further lift the Citroen brand,' he said.

‘We have a fantastic heritage – including models like the DS and the 2CV.’

A classic 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS once owned by former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson could hit the hammer at auction for over £200,000. The Top Gear and Grand Tour host once dubbed the F355 the "greatest car in the world", making it one of Clarkson’s all-time favourites.

The car featured in the iconic 'Clarkson’s Car Years' TV Series and in his Sunday Times column. Amazingly, the model has only racked up 14,899 miles at cataloguing, meaning the model is in superb condition. The car will hit auction at RM Sotheby’s Cliveden House auction with an estimated sale price of £180,000 to £220,000.

RM Sotheby’s explained: "In the 1996 VHS special Unleashed on Cars, presenter Jeremy Clarkson emerged from his road test aboard a Ferrari F355 declaring it to be: 'the greatest car in the world; ever.'

"He reckoned it was the apogee of Maranello lore and modern technology. In fact, the supercar had wormed its way under his skin to such an extent that he 'had to have one'. And he did.

"Bought via the official Maranello Sales dealership at its art deco Tower Gate showroom in Egham, the F355 was delivered to the Top Gear and The Grand Tour host in August 1996 (as confirmed by the accompanying Warranty Card) registered 'P199 YPL'.

"After some debate over colour and configuration, as covered in the 2000 series Clarkson’s Car Years, he settled upon a targa-roofed GTS.

"He opted for Rosso Corsa over Crema leather, Rosso carpets, and extremely rare sports seats with Rosso inserts - a specification recorded in the original letters from Maranello Sales to Clarkson."

The model was ordered brand new by Clarkson and was delivered to the star back in 1996.

But, Clarkson eventually decided to give the model away in a Sunday Times newspaper competition

A third keeper kept hold of the Ferrari between March 2003 and February 2013 before coming into the care of the current vendor.

According to RM Sotheby’s the vehicle has been "maintained fastidiously" by marque expert John Pogson at his Italia Autosport base.

The F355 has been described as a top example factory-fitted model.

The vehicle is now displayed in its original colours of Rosso Corsa over Crema with stunning Rosso carpets.

RM Sotheby’s added: "One of the great modern Modena creations and, thanks in no small part to its famous first owner, this F355 GTS is arguably one of the best-known and finest examples in existence."

During his original stint on Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson was smitten by the Ferrari F355. Who could blame him? It was a leap forward for Ferrari, and in time, enthusiasts have rightly deemed a classic. Clarkson bought this F355 GTS in 1996, but found Ferrari ownership wasn't quite what it was cracked up to be. Now, though, you can try your hand at F355 ownership.

RM Sotheby's is auctioning Clarkson's F355 GTS at its Cliveden House 2025 event next month. The car has just under 15,000 miles on its odometer, and importantly, it just got a recent major service. That's huge because F355s are maintenance-intensive cars, and the only thing more expensive than servicing one is fixing one that hasn't been taken care of. RM Sotheby's estimates a sale price of between $245,000 to $300,000, which is very strong for an F355, but this one has provenance and a couple of rare options.

Clarkson owned the F355 for just four years, putting around 6,000 miles on its odometer. He featured the car in his Sunday Times and Top Gear magazine columns, and in a hilarious segment in his Clarkson's Car Years special. He admitted that he wished he hadn't gone for the classic Rosso Corsa red, and for the open-top GTS model either, and that he couldn't bear the shame of driving it around. As RM Sotheby's notes, Clarkson gave away the car in a Sunday Times giveaway in 2000.

The contest winner kept it for a few years before selling it to the third owner. The current owner bought it in 2013, and apparently took excellent care of the car.

Beyond its famous first owner, this F355 is notable for being a manual-transmission targa, a pretty rare combination. Once Ferrari introduced the soft-top Spider in 1995, GTS sales plummeted. The arrival of the paddle-shift "F1" transmission in 1997 had a similar effect on the standard manual, too. Clarkson also ordered the car with cream and red sports seats, which you almost never see on F355s of any stripe.

If you're an American reading this, you can import this car, as it's well over 25 years old. Obviously, you'll have to deal with it being right-hand drive, but that might not be such an issue for getting one of the most famous examples of a beloved Ferrari.

Funnily enough, Clarkson never owned another Ferrari. His former Top Gear and Grand Tour co-hosts have, though. Richard Hammond owned a 550 Maranello and the 308 GT4 from a Top Gear cheap-car challenge, and James May owned a 308 GTB, a F430, and currently owns a 458 Speciale.

By CIARAN FOREMAN and ROB HULL

Oasis star Noel Gallagher's former 'pride and joy' retro Bentley Turbo R has hit the market for £1.2million.

The 1997 model, which packs a punch with its 6.8L engine, was one of Gallagher's many cars which he could famously never drive after quitting his lessons while being mobbed by fans.

Instead the legendary songwriter opted to be chauffeured around, with the deep red saloon just one of his many luxury motors.

Its doors open to a cream leather seated interior, complemented by wood trim which allows prospective buyers into 'a slice of British rock and roll history'.

Described as being in 'excellent condition' and 'surprisingly reliable', the five-door saloon is also kitted out with a registration plate which reads 'OA6I6 2' in a nod to the upcoming reunion.

It has clocked 100,000 miles in its 28-year life, having been registered on March 25, 1997, and the accompanying logbook proves that it was once owned by Gallagher and five others.

The car can hit top speeds of 150mph, though having been 'rarely driven', it may take an extra bit of greasing to get there.

Erin Baker, Editorial Director at Auto Trader, said: 'Cars listed by music legends don't come around very often, and Noel Gallagher's Bentley Turbo R is certainly one for the Auto Trader history books.'

Noel Gallagher's former 'pride and joy' retro Bentley Turbo R (above) has hit the market for £1.2million

The deep red saloon was one of Gallagher's many cars which he could famously never drive after quitting his lessons while being mobbed by fans in the 1990s

However, it would appear the vendor is trying to make good on the Oasis return this summer with a huge mark-up on the value of the late '90s Bentley performance car.

Listed just a month before the Oasis Live tour opens on 4 July in Cardiff, the asking price appear incredibly steep for a motor of this ilk.

Even a low-mileage, pristine, and totally original example of a Turbo R today is valued by classic car experts at a maximum of £25,300.

It means an asking price of £1.2million is 47 times the current value.

One with 100,000 miles on the clock would be deemed by car valuations experts Hagerty as either 'Good' or 'Excellent' condition, which (based on insurance quotes and auction sale prices) would make it worth between £12,100 and £16,900.

Gallagher previously told how his driving instructor caused a group of fans to mob him in the 1990s, meaning the Bentley and other 'expensive mistakes' like his 1967 Jaguar Mark II spent most of their time gathering dust.

He told BBC Radio in 2023: 'I was driving round a housing estate in Slough and [the driving instructor] said to me, "pull in here".

'I pulled over and she got out of the car.

'She said "I'll be back in a minute" and came out with her mum. She'd driven me to her house and her mum was taking a picture of me in the street.'

Things quickly descended and further chaos ensued for Gallagher when a local school bell rang and floods of pupils ran towards him.

Described as being in 'excellent condition' and 'surprisingly reliable', the five-door saloon car is also kitted out with a registration plate which reads 'OA6I6 2'

He said: 'I'm in a red Nissan Micra with a massive great big triangle on the top of it with an L, with all these kids coming out.

'This is at the height of Oasis mania. I was like, "never, never again am I getting in a car".'

Though Gallagher doesn't have a license, he still splurges on luxury cars today - though he did brand his purchase of a vintage Jaguar as his 'most expensive mistake'.

He previously said: 'I thought when I became a fully blown rock star, I was gonna need a car. So I got a Jaguar Mark II from 1967, the year I was born.

'But they take about 18 months to two years to build, so I thought I'll easily have learned to drive in two years.

Noel (right) will reunited with his brother Liam (left) this summer for an Oasis reunion tour, the first time the band have shared a stage since 2009

'This low-loader pulled up outside the house with this car on the back. I was putting the kettle on, thinking, "f***ing lovely car, that. I'm gonna get one of those, one day".

'And the guy knocked on the door and said "Mr Gallagher? Your car!" I'd forgotten that I'd bought the car.'

The convertible was said to have only covered nine miles in five years.

In recent years, the rockstar was even hit with a six-month driving ban after his chauffeur-driven Range Rover racked up a number of speeding tickets.

He appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates Court in June 2023 and was ordered to pay more than £1000 for not naming who the driver was.

Prospective buyers can view the Bentley listing on Auto Trader.

Launched in 1985, the Turbo R was the fastest limo on the road at the time.

It produced an estimated 328bhp, and somewhere in the region of 400lb ft of torque - though its grunt was somewhat diluted by the car’s 2.2-tonne bulk.

In 1987, it was tested against the stopwatch and a Turbo R was found to hit 60mph in seven seconds and up to a top speed of 143mph. In the mid-eighties, there was nothing else on the road that could get you to a boardroom meeting faster.

Broad Arrow offers McLaren MP4-12C supercars personally owned by Sir Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button

The MP4-12C defined the future of McLaren Automotive and its subsequent models

Hamilton and Button contributed extensively to development of the MP4-12C, providing valuable feedback that was implemented in production models

Extremely rare opportunity to own a supercar that defined a global brand and that was owned by a modern-era Formula One World Champion

Both cars to feature at the inaugural Broad Arrow Auction at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on 24-25 May 2025

The McLaren MP4-12C is regarded as the cornerstone of the modern era for McLaren Automotive. It returned the renowned British marque to the upper echelons of the supercar world after the success of the iconic McLaren F1 in the 1990s. At the time of its reveal in 2010, McLaren had two Formula One Drivers’ Champions on its F1 team, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. Both were instrumental in the development of the MP4-12C, with Hamilton requesting the steering wheel be slimmed down and adjustments to the paddle-shifters for both position and to provide a more audible click, similar to the configuration in his McLaren F1 car.

Former boss of McLaren, Ron Dennis, gifted an MP4-12C to both drivers in recognition of their contribution to the creation of this impressive supercar and their success on F1 circuits around the world. Broad Arrow is now in the enviable position of offering both cars for sale at its inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction.

“Broad Arrow is extremely proud to have been entrusted to find new owners for these remarkably special McLaren supercars that were owned by Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button” says Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow’s EMEA Region. “These two McLaren MP4-12C models have a very special place in motoring history. The two F1 World Champions provided invaluable expertise in the development of the MP4-12C that would not only compete in the market with Ferrari and Lamborghini but would define the future of McLaren Automotive and the models it has produced since.”

Registered to the seven-time Formula One Drivers’ Champion on 1 March 2012, Hamilton’s MP4-12C was initially delivered to Switzerland, but re-routed to Monte Carlo after Hamilton moved to Monaco. It boasts a unique specification, configured by Hamilton himself at the McLaren factory in Woking, England. He kept the car in Monaco, where he drove it regularly and famously took it to Cannes for a music video shoot with Swizz Beatz.

This highly collectible McLaren MP4-12C features numerous carbon fibre options, including the front spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror casings. It also has the Stealth Pack and optional five-spoke wheels in Satin Dark Grey. After delivery of the car, Hamilton also arranged for the windows to be tinted. As an early model, this MP4-12C features the swipe door feature, which was changed in later models, something that further adds to its collectability.

This is a McLaren with ultimate provenance, a unique MP4-12C with a specification chosen by Sir Lewis Hamilton himself and that served as one of his own personal cars. Ownership provides a piece of F1 history as well as a car that signalled the return of McLaren to series production supercars.

The MP4-12C, designed by famous designer, Frank Stephenson, was more than a match for anything from Italian rivals, most of which were produced in much greater numbers than the McLaren, ensuring the MP4-12C retains its exclusivity. At its heart was a 592hp twin-turbo V8, but beyond its highly engaging powertrain, McLaren’s exceptional innovation in aerodynamics, engineering and performance made it the perfect car for a championship-winning F1 driver.

2009 F1 World Champion, Jenson Button, is such a driver and he too was proud to be involved in the development of the MP4-12C. It is his personal car that will be offered alongside Hamilton’s at Broad Arrow’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction. This car was actually Button’s second, as the first one provided to him was returned to the factory to be used to continue development work. Button then personally chose a second car, featuring stunning Elite Pearl White paintwork and an interior trimmed in Harissa Red and Black leather. Along with the difference in color, Button’s car features carbon fibre for the interior trim and the steering wheel.

Button’s MP4-12C was configured in consultation with McLaren Monaco before being supplied to the F1 champion. In 2012 it was sold to a private collection in the UK. It remained with that collection until now, being regularly maintained by the McLaren dealer network and today showing less than 12,000km.

These two McLaren MP4-12C supercars are testament to the pioneering design and engineering of McLaren Automotive. Their unique provenance as being specified and owned by two of the most famous F1 drivers of the current era, undoubtedly make them an enticing addition for any collector.

“This is a very rare opportunity to own the personal McLaren MP4-12C supercars of Sir Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button,” says Twyman. “Created to the specification of each of these F1 World Champions, these two cars feature incredible provenance that spans both the motoring and motorsport worlds.”

The McLarens are sure to stir competition among bidders, worthy of any race to the chequered flag, when bidding commences at the inaugural Broad Arrow Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction next month.

The Ferrari F50 is arguably one of the most collectable road cars of the 1990s.

It ticks all the multi-million-pound classic car boxes: low-volume exclusivity, a V12 engine taken from the Scuderia Formula One cars of the era, and achingly beautiful looks.

And one bound for the auction block later this year is such a head turner that it attracted the attention of one of the world's most prominent fashion designers, with a keen eye for style.

This 1995 Ferrari F50 was delivered new to American billionaire Ralph Lauren and is a highly coveted car.

With only 349 F50s produced by the Maranello factory, it's already an exceedingly rare - and desirable - model. But this one is even more special as it's only one of two US-delivered examples painted striking yellow, a paint colour Ferrari calls Giallo Modena.

It will go under the hammer in California in the summer with a mere 5,400 miles chalked up in its 30-year life.

The amount of cash the winning bidder is expected to hand over is nothing shy of astronomical.

This 1995 Ferrari F50 was delivered new to fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Some 30 years later, it is going under the hammer with an astronomical guide price

RM Sotheby's will offer this beautiful motor at its flagship Monterey Sale in the US taking place on the 15 and 16 August.

Given its legendary status and famous original custodian, the auction house reckons it will sell for between $6.5million and $7.5million. In pounds sterling, that's around £5m to £5.7m, or, to you and me, multiple lifetimes of earnings.

Initially presented to the fashion star in 1995, he kept it in his booming car collection for eight years.

Lauren, 85, is known to be a huge petrol head, amassing a garage of more than 100 exotic motors.

Included amongst these is the apple of the eye of classic car enthusiasts - a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.

But that's not all. He also has two Ferrari TRs, three 1996 McLaren F1s, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, 1929 Bentley Blower, Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Gangloff, Bugatti Veyron, 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK 'Count Trossi', and a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Mille Miglia. It's fair to say, the man knows his cars.

Ralph Lauren, 85, is recognised for being a proper petrol head and car collector. He has over 100 exotic models in his garage

The Ferrari F50 ticks all the multi-million-pound classic car boxes: it has low-volume exclusivity, a V12 engine and achingly beautiful looks

Initially presented to Lauren in 1995, he kept it in his booming car collection for eight years

For the last 22 years, it has remained in single enthusiast ownership in which it has largely been kept away from the limelight, making very few public appearances

In 2003, Bronx-born New Yorker Lauren sold the F50 via Ferrari of Washington to its current owner.

It has since remained in single enthusiast ownership in which it has largely been kept away from the limelight.

In fact, the only notable appearance it has made in the last 22 years was during a brief public showing at the Cavallino Classic in 2009.

'The Ferrari F50 is quickly becoming one of the most collectible road cars of all time,' says Zach Oller, car specialist at RM Sotheby's.

'In the world of collector cars, multiple factors influence desirability - rarity, provenance, and the badge itself. And when you're talking about Ferrari, those details matter even more.

'This car checks every box. The spec is exceptional: finished in ultra-rare Giallo Modena, one of only two US-delivered F50s in yellow.

'The provenance is unmatched - it was owned by Ralph Lauren.

'And in terms of condition, it's one of the finest examples known to exist.

'This is the kind of car that rarely surfaces—and when it does, the entire collector world takes notice.'

With only 349 F50s produced by the Maranello factory, it's already an exceedingly rare - and desirable - model. But this one is even more special as it's only one of two US-delivered models painted striking yellow, a paint colour Ferrari calls Giallo Modena

Built to celebrate Ferrari's 50th anniversary, the F50 was designed as a roadgoing Formula One car, featuring a 4.7-litre V12 powerplant derived from Ferrari's 1990 F1 engine

RM Sotheby's will offer the beautiful supercar at its flagship Monterey Sale in the US taking place on the 15 and 16 August

Given its legendary status and famous original custodian, the auction house reckons it will sell for between $6.5million and $7.5million (£5m-£5.7m)

You can also save money on maintenance and repairs.

To celebrate the Motoring Club launch, there is a special prize draw exclusively for members. Select Car Leasing is providing a free six-month lease on a Nissan Qashqai.

In addition, all new members will receive a one-off gift of £20 in reward vouchers to spend.

Launched in 1995, the F50 had the incredibly difficult task of following in the tyre tracks of arguably Ferrari's greatest automotive creation of the modern era: the F40.

It's fair to say that collectors were somewhat underwhelmed in the early days, with values remaining relatively low.

But in recent years it has become a supercar that's appreciated both in the opinion of the wealthiest petrol heads and value.

Like Ferrari's other 'Big Five' supercar members - the 288 GTO, F40, Enzo, and LaFerrari - prices have continued to rise, but the F50 has emerged as a standout.

Collectors want one because the F50 bookends a generation of vehicles from the Italian giant: it's Ferrari's last naturally aspirated, open-top, manual-transmission supercar developed with direct F1 lineage.

'For collectors seeking rarity, provenance, and emotional driving connection, this is one of the most compelling modern Ferraris to come to market in years,' Sotheby's says.

Ralph Lauren's former Fezza heads to the US auction in the summer showing just 5,361 miles driven

Built to celebrate Ferrari's 50th anniversary, the F50 was designed as a roadgoing Formula One car, featuring a 4.7-litre V12 powerplant derived from the engine Ferrari's Scuderia F1 team had developed for the 1990 season.

With a carbon fibre monocoque, six-speed manual gearbox, and removable hardtop, it remains a purist's dream.

Of the 349 produced, only 55 were US-spec. Almost all of those were red.

Lauren's Giallo Modena example is believed to be one of only four non-red US cars, making it among the rarest and most desirable F50s in existence.

Certified by Ferrari Classiche, this F50 remains fully numbers-matching and original throughout.

With just 5,361 miles on the clock, the Fezza has recently received a fresh service, and will be sold with its original books, leather folio, and Ferrari-branded flashlight.

A Land Rover Defender delivered new to King Charles has been sold at auction for an estimate-busting price.

The 2010 Defender 90 Hardtop was originally supplied to his Royal Highness and the Duchess of Cornwall by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicles division 15 years ago.

While there are no known images of Charles at the wheel of the car, there are 'many documents' confirming that it belonged to him.

The driver's seat - finished in Charcoal Grey - is also claimed to show 'only minor wear indicating that this was not a chauffeur-driven Defender', which the auction house claimed is a sign that Charles had likely taken to the wheel on the British 4X4 himself.

After leaving His Royal Highness' garage, the motor was snapped up and 'cherished' in a collection dedicated to former royal vehicles before being offered to the highest bidder on Saturday at a car auction in the Midlands.

The off-roader went to the block with fewer than 25,000 miles on the clock and its traditional Keswick Green paint in 'superb condition' with the expectation of attracting plenty of bids.

And it didn't disappoint, with the eventual price paid some 60 per cent above estimate.

This 2010 Land Rover Defender 90, which was delivered new to King Charles, has been sold at auction for an estimate-busting price over the weekend

Iconic Auctioneers had placed a pre-sale guide price of £42,000 to £50,000 on the royal ride ahead of it going under the hammer at The Classic Sale at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham on Saturday.

'This is no ordinary Defender 90,' the auctioneer announced as the lot appeared on screen.

'This is ex-Royal Family. This was supplied new for the sole use of our great King Charles III, then Price of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall for their personal use.'

Bidding opened at £25,000 though the price rapidly surged as collectors went head-to-head for the keys to the Land Rover.

Towards the tail end of the lot, an online bidder and enthusiast in the auction room were vying for its V5 document, with the latter eventually winning out at £60,000, rising to £67,500 inclusive of auction fees and tax.

It means the winning bid was some £25,500 over the lower estimate.

Gary Dunne, sales manager at Iconic Auctioneers, told This is Money: 'We knew from Iconic Auctioneers previous history of selling cars with Royal provenance that a sensible guide price, in this case £42,000 to £50,000 would generate significant interest in this car, which it did.

'With bidding in the room, online and on the phones, we were not too surprised to see the hammer fall at £60,000.

'We hope the new owner is delighted with their purchase, which we believe will be staying in the UK.'

While there are no known images of Charles at the wheel of the car, there are 'many documents' confirming that it belonged to him

A letter confirms its delivery to the Royal addressed to Tim Williams, Head Chauffeur to HRH The Prince of Wales and TRH The Duchess of Cornwall

Paperwork sold with the car show the Land Rover Defender 90 was delivered new to the Royal Garage at Highgrove House on 15 November 2010. Then Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall pictured two days later at the Prince's Trust Rock Gala with Dame Edna Everage and Paloma Faith

Bidding opened at £25k on Saturday but the price rapidly surged as collectors went head-to-head, with an online bidder and enthusiast in the auction room vying for its V5 document. The latter eventually won out at £60,000, rising to £67,500 inclusive of auction fees and tax

Records show that this specific Land Rover Defender 90 was delivered new to the Royal Garage at Highgrove House on 15 November 2010.

Verifying this detail, the winning bidder has been supplied with a confirmation letter addressed to Tim Williams, Head Chauffeur to HRH The Prince of Wales and TRH The Duchess of Cornwall, as part of an extensive history file for the vehicle.

Having left the King's fleet, it formed part of a small but dedicated Royal Collection, dutifully cared for by a fastidious owner who has decided to part ways with the imperial 4X4.

By its nature, the utilitarian Defender rarely has any form of creature comforts.

However, as one might expect, this Royal example does have a few luxuries at the request of the King and installed by Land Rover's specialist department.

This includes the addition of heated seats and a heated front and rear screens for rapid demisting.

The driver's seat - finished in Charcoal Grey - is claimed to show 'only minor wear indicating that this was not a chauffeur-driven Defender'

This condition of the driver's seat suggests Charles likely took to the wheel of the diesel Land Rover Defender 90 himself, says Iconic Auctioneers

Having left the King's fleet, the Defender became part of a dedicated Royal Collection, dutifully cared for by a fastidious owner before being offered to the highest bidder on Saturday

The diesel-engined Defender went to the block displaying a '72 HRH' number plate, though this was not included with the vehicle at the time of sale.

The plate has been retained by the vendor, however, it but could be available to the Land Rover's new keeper by separate negotiation, the auction house told us.

Production of the previous-generation Defender ceased on 29 January 2016.

This is Money recently spoke to Charles Fawcett, the founder of 4X4 tuning business Twisted, who bought 239 of the last Defenders off the production line in 2015 and 2016.

Having stored and then upgraded each one before selling at a premium, the Yorkshire-based vehicle specialist explained to us how he made millions from the deal.

Bonhams is proud to offer one of the most desirable and significant examples of the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R ever built, which comes with extraordinary provenance and unparalleled cultural caché.

This car was constructed in 2002 as a 2nd Generation R34 GT-R, recorded on the GTR Registry under its chassis No 'BNR34-400109' as a Series 2 GTR painted in TV2 Bayside Blue. It was modified to 'Fast and Furious' acting legend Paul Walker's personal specification, and starred in 'Fast and Furious 4'. It is the true hero car, built to Paul Walker's personal specification, and indeed the only true R34 GT-R appearing in the film. Once in the US and registered as a 2007 Kaizo, the car and was then modified and converted to Paul Walker's precise personal specification. A large dashboard monitor was added at Walker's request. He requested the removal of all vinyls and exterior visual decoration to highlight the clean, classic lines of the Bayside Blue Skyline.

Paul Walker's list of modifications didn't stop with cosmetic enhancements. Other conversion measures include:
· Turbonetics front-mount intercooler
· Nismo lowering springs
· Custom-built roll cage
· ARC titanium strut brace
· 19X11 Volk Racing RE30 19x11 wheels
· Rotora brake conversion with six piston calipers on the front and four piston calipers at the rear
· Nismo Version II bumper with side skirts
· East Bear hood
· Rear Seat delete
· Momo Sport Alcantara steering wheel
· Nismo V-Spec pedals (seen in close up during the street race countdown)
· Custom head-up display for dashboard mounted monitor
· MFD Xenarc Display unit with gauges programmed to the car's ECU
· Sony head unit
· OMP custom racing seats with five-point belt system
· Nismo NE-1 exhaust system
· Boost pressure raised to 550hp with uprated intercooler and exhaust modifications

The OMP custom driver's bucket seat in this iconic R34 GT-R remains fixed in the position last used by Paul Walker during the filming of 'Fast and Furious 4', and it has not been moved since. However, after filming wrapped and the production crew began work on the sequel 'Fast Five', the car was seized and impounded by the US Border Force due to its origin as an assembled vehicle by Kaizo and the fact that the R34 GT-R was not allowed to be imported into the US at that time. This led to a complex and lengthy legal battle, which delayed the car's release from impound until 2012, after which it was exported to Germany, where it has remained since.

Although the car has been taxed in the EU, it has never been registered there, and it comes with an expired original title from the state of Nevada, titling it as a 2007 Kai. Prospective bidders are advised to investigate the registration process in their jurisdiction before bidding. The car retains its original chassis stamping of 'BNR34-400109' on the firewall, as well as the Kaizo Industries chassis tag with the related 17-digit VIN '1K1AAWDD77K400109', which is also visible on a windscreen tag beside the passenger A-pillar. The car's origins as a specially constructed vehicle are confirmed by the Kaizo VIN, which is also seen on the sticker in the door shut. Unfortunately, nothing is known about its history in Japan before it came to the US for movie production, so the mileage cannot be confirmed.

Although the car has seen little use in recent years, it has been a popular exhibit at the Munich Motorworld and has been wrapped in paint protection film. The GT-R is running, but it is recommended that it be serviced and recommissioned before being used again. This street racer, built to the precise personal specification of a true enthusiast, is a scene-stealing modern classic and one of the most notable and desirable vehicles from the 'Fast and Furious' franchise. The franchise has grossed over $6Bn worldwide and has showcased some of the most dazzling custom machines in cinematic history. This particular GT-R is an instantly recognizable example of a timeless design and represents a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of cinematic and automotive history.

The GMC Suburban that The Notorious B.I.G was shot dead in went up for sale. This came a week after the car that Tupac Shakur was killed in also went up for sale in February. Both cars are commanding fees of $1.5million.

The Guardian reports that the car was bought at a public auction in October of 1997 and has over 100,000 miles on it. It was bought by a woman who used it to ferry her family of six. She was completely oblivious to the vehicles grisly past until LAPD informed her in 2005.

The bullet hole ridden passenger door through which Biggie was shot through in March, 1997 was taken by police as evidence in the investigation, and was replaced. Auctioneer Moments in Time claim that Police will return the original door to the purchaser of the car.

Moments in Time are also the sellers of the BMW in which Tupac was shot. Now they're obviously opportunists, but is it not a bit ridiculous commanding such a fee for such a car? How much value does a 'celebrity endorsement' have, to make a standard suburban car worth $1.5 million!

It gets much, much worse than this though, some ridiculous celebrity 'memorabilia' can go for stupid money. Like a lock of Justin Bieber's hair, for instance, sold for $40,668 on Ebay, and a used pregnancy test by Britney Spears sold for $5,001. They get more ridiculous though, Someone bought john Lennon's tooth for $31,200, and another deranged person bought a jar, which was supposedly filled with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's breath, sold for $523... What is wrong with some people, to put these people on such a pedestal that you'd pay over $30,000 for one of their teeth?!? But maybe they'll have the last laugh, they could make a fortune when cloning becomes mainstream.

A Rolls Royce owned by the Belfast-born sporting and fashion icon is up for sale at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford during an event run by auction house H&H.

The former Manchester United idol’s 1972 Silver Shadow is estimated to sell for between £10,000 to £15,000 through the motorcar and motorbike specialists.

The coveted classic car was purchased by the 1968 European Cup winner in the Manchester-based showroom of Ian Anthony Car Sales, on December 4, 1972 – with the star forward only too happy to promote his friend’s business.

The car was finished in acrylic white with black leather upholstery – including sumptuous hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets – but has been repainted since belonging to the 1968 European Footballer of the Year.

Interestingly the car has gained a black vinyl roof covering – which was a must-have 1970s accessory – but pleasingly still retains its original steering wheel and upholstery.

A spokesman for H&H said: “Any future custodian has the pleasure of knowing that he or she is not only driving a car George Best owned in his heyday but also sitting on the very same leather. Acquired by its last registered keeper during 1994, the car has had £22,000 spent on it over the last 22 years.

“Adorned with more aesthetically pleasing bumpers than their successors, first series Rolls Royce Silver Shadows have become increasingly collectible of late.”

Launched in 1965 the Silver Shadow at the time was seen as a bold departure for the Crewe-based company. The H&H spokesman added: “Performance from the smooth 6230cc V8 engine was assured, the car wafting forward on a seemingly unstoppable wave of torque. Still immensely cosseting to drive, Shadows offer a genuinely different ownership experience to their peers.”

Best who, scored 137 goals for the Red Devils in 361 appearances, lived up to his playboy reputation by once saying: “If you’d given me the choice of going out and beating four men and smashing a goal in from 30 yards against Liverpool or going to bed with Miss World, it would have been a difficult choice. Luckily, I had both.”

On being asked what he’d like his legacy to be he also replied: “When I’ve gone they’ll only remember the football. If a single person thinks I’m the best player in the world, it’s good enough for me.”

For someone as complex a hero as Georgie Best he was wrong. People will remember the football of course but – as witnessed by the interest in the sale of his Rolls Royce – a considerable amount of people will also remember his off-field life too.

His arrivals, departures and everything in between were events unto themselves, and that wasn’t to be the case during the honeymoon. From the wedding through the early 1970s, this limousine served the family well, carrying Elvis, Priscilla and their only child, Lisa Marie, around town, on trips and to countless engagements. As such, this car has the distinction of having been regarded by “The Memphis Mafia” as the Elvis Presley Family Car; the tales this car could tell, if only it could talk.

It seems the majority of the cars once owned, or otherwise kept, by Elvis are accounted for and largely coddled in collections and museums around the world, or at least heavily photographed and documented through pictures. Even a Ford Thunderbird he bought on a whim in the mid-1960s because he liked the wire wheels has been reasonably well documented. But that’s not the case with this 1967 Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson Executive Limousine. It’s been largely forgotten over time, seen only in a rare few photographs and remaining extraordinarily overlooked as a Presley car.

Odd that it went so unnoticed, considering it was the first car of the Elvis Presley family, a wedding gift even. (Kudos to Colonel Parker in his selection of a family car for the Presleys.) Few cars could be more fitting, as it’s commonly known that Elvis preferred the likes of Cadillac and Lincoln seemingly above all other makes. An avid car guy, though, he also kept company with brands like Rolls-Royce, Stutz, Mercedes-Benz, DeTomaso and even a BMW 507 while serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Germany. In fact, the last picture taken of him before he died, literally hours before his death, was of his return to Graceland from a dental appointment driving the infamous black Stutz, the fourth of four Stutz Blackhawks he owned. The first one was actually a prototype, car No. 002; while a number of stories about how Elvis acquired it swirl around, a check for nearly $27,000 is what secured No. 002 for Elvis.

Part of the extensive collection of James Petrozzini, the Elvis Presley Family Limousine has been hidden from public eyes for decades. It was equipped with air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, a power antenna, a power front bench seat, an in-dash clock and a host of other luxurious amenities, putting the car well over the top of the typical bar of exclusivity. The mechanical symphony that is the 462 CI V-8 with an automatic transmission powering this limousine was introduced in 1966 and was known in the day as one of the smoothest, quietest engine combinations ever produced, and it also boasted a linear powerband that rivaled all others to boot. It was perfect for motivating the heavy body of a well-built Limousine like the Lehmann-Peterson examples.

The history behind Lehmann-Peterson limousines is very interesting in and of itself. The first and second examples of the company’s limousines easily won over the hearts of engineers, designers and top brass at both Ford and Lincoln divisions, largely for two main reasons: one, the passenger area layout, which did away with the old-style jump seats and employed a reverse-seat layout, said to have been inspired by private aircraft seating; and, two, the extraordinary structural rigidity.

In testing, Ford-Lincoln tried to break the first prototype, literally jumping the Limousine a couple of times to bend it, buckle it or actually break it. The car wouldn’t budge; it remained as straight as if nothing had happened. The doors operated normally, the chassis remained sound, and the customized interior was unfazed. To say it was impressive was an understatement. Lehmann-Peterson limousines quickly became the posh ride of America’s most elite, thanks to the understated styling of the Continental and the elegantly spacious interiors. Throughout his life, Elvis owned a number of limousines, including a 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Limousine that he ordered in 1959 while stationed in Germany. One of the first 1960s off the assembly line, Serial No. 32 was custom bodied by Hess and Eisenhardt with a padded roof, power privacy glass and two separate air conditioning systems for the front and rear. Later, Elvis acquired a 1973 Lincoln Limousine, a car that was said to have been a gift from RCA Records, though, other reports claim that he ordered and bought the car himself.

There was also a 1960 Cadillac Limousine with custom features by George Barris, including 24-karat gold accents. Then there was a 1964 Cadillac Limousine and a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 Limousine, all bookending the ownership of this 1967 Lehmann-Peterson Lincoln. Elvis owned hundreds of cars over his lifetime and gave away the majority of them. It’s been rumored that in one night, he gave away 30 Lincolns. This car nevertheless stands out as a truly unique and memorable Presley-owned auto. Graceland still maintains a healthy number of original Elvis-owned cars. But the Elvis Presley Family Car has not been available for spectators to view like the well-known examples on display at Graceland. Elvis Presley’s 1967 Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson Executive Limousine has been tucked away for decades, like a hidden treasure awaiting discovery. In fact, few even knew it was part of the Presley fleet, but, thanks to the title application listing Elvis as the owner, it is indeed an easily proven fact.

Throughout his life, Elvis owned a number of limousines, including a 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Limousine that he ordered in 1959 while stationed in Germany. But, here it is now, unveiled and ready for its next chapter.
