Dave Bastin is the kind of driver who doesn’t let off the throttle, literally. With an AE86 under him and a no-lifting philosophy, he’s built a reputation for putting on a show that’s as aggressive as it is skilled. Now, at Classic Japfest at Goodwood, the Drift Kings demonstration is set to get one of its wildest runs yet, with Dave pushing his machine to the absolute limit.

The AE86 is the drift icon, and Dave’s version is anything but a showpiece. It’s stripped, focused, and built to send. There’s no compromise with the AE86, just pure, unfiltered drifting that matches his style.

Watching JDM Option, the iconic Japanese drift videos, was the spark that ignited Dave’s passion for the sport. Seeing it in action was enough to convince him that this was what he wanted to do.

Dave’s first drift car was a Nissan S14. It might not have had the same cult status as his current AE86, but it got him started, and from there, there was no turning back.

“Practice, practice, practice.” It’s simple, but effective. You don’t need to overbuild your car at first, just work on your skills and keep improving. The basics are everything.

Anything in America. Dave’s all about those big tracks with wide-open spaces and serious commitment, places where you can go full throttle and really stretch your car’s capabilities. Now imagine that AE86 singing its way around the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca…

If the wallet had no limits, Dave’s dream build would be something with a six-rotor engine. A big, wild machine that screams raw power and high-revving madness, a machine that would match his driving philosophy to a T.

Drifting at Mondello Park for the LZ World Tour stands out as one of Dave’s biggest highlights. The chance to compete with some of the world’s best drivers in front of a global audience is a memory that will stay with him forever.

Dave Bastin is all about keeping the throttle pinned. He’s got one goal: “No lifting.” Expect raw speed, committed angles, and a spectacle that won’t disappoint. At Classic Japfest, the Drift Kings demonstration will bring out the wildest of the wild, and Dave’s AE86 will be putting on one heck of a show for the crowd.
