35-year-old Josh Berry is looking for a ride. The No. 21 car fielded by Wood Brothers Racing will have a new driver.
Back in 2021, Josh Berry got his big break as he signed to drive part-time for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series. He picked up two wins that year.
For 2022, JR Motorsports signed him full-time. He grabbed three wins and finished 4th in the standings. That led to another full-time season in 2023.
In 2024, he was picked up by Stewart-Haas Racing to drive the No. 4 after Kevin Harvick’s retirement. However, following the 2024 season, SHR sold their team and closed the doors.
For 2025 and 2026, Berry has raced full time for Wood Brothers Racing. He had an average finish of 21st in 2025 and so far this year, Berry average finish is 26th.
Now, it’s been confirmed that Berry will be a free agent at the end of the season.

“I’m trying to put the pieces together and see what’s out there,” Josh Berry stated.
“You never know what type of opportunities come about and where it goes from here. It’s tough to have happen.”
“At the same time, I’ve been extremely fortunate to get the opportunities that I’ve had. And been extremely fortunate to drive for the Wood Brothers.”
“We’re going to hard hard to try to land on our feet and find something. I don’t really have any expectations or plans. Certainly open to really anything.”
“I’m the same guy that won Las Vegas and nearly won at New Hampshire in the Playoffs.”
“It’s a great opportunity to show my kids how to handle adversity. How to work through things when life doesn’t go your way.”
Berry concluded, “We pick up the pieces and move on.”
Wood Brothers Racing have not stated who will take over the No. 21 car in 2027. The entry is a charter backed operation.
