This Audi UR-Quattro Restomod Has An RS4 Living Inside It

The classic Audi Quattro returns as a supercharged V8 restomod with Group B S1 styling, over 600 hp and a manual gearbox

  • This modernized Audi Quattro will use the B7 RS4’s 4.2-liter V8.
  • Thanks to a supercharger, this engine will be able to churn out over 600 hp.
  • Audacious Automotive is also working on an S1 Quattro-inspired body kit.

We’ve seen restomod companies turn their attention to all kinds of classics in recent years, from iconic Porsche 911s to Ford Broncos and even revered Ferraris and Lamborghinis. That growing trend now brings us to a new entrant with a distinctly rally-bred focus. A British startup called Audacious Automotive has unveiled its first project, based on the iconic Audi Quattro.

While work on the car is still ongoing, company boss Mac Zaglewski says the finished creation will combine the classic looks of the Quattro with the more modern technologies of the B7-generation Audi RS4.

This means the car’s original 2.1-liter five-cylinder turbo will be ditched in favor of the RS4’s 4.2-liter V8, which delivered 414 hp. However, eager to make the revived Quattro even more special, Audacious will add a supercharger, targeting at least 600 hp. That’s a serious figure and should make the car an absolute animal to drive. And, it’ll also be sold with a manual transmission.

Looks To Match

Beyond the engine swap, the British firm is overhauling the original bodywork, taking inspiration from the S1 Quattro that dominated Group B. As such, it features an upgraded front fascia with a distinctive bumper, a new black grille, and bold new air intakes. There will also be flared wheel arches at all four corners, drastically boosting the car’s road presence.

Photos of the rear end show that presence all too well. Key changes will include a louvered rear window, a towering rear wing, a unique diffuser, and dual tailpipes.

Speaking with Autocar, Zaglewski noted that these parts won’t just be for show; they’ll also serve cooling and aerodynamic functions. Impressively, the new body will help ensure the car is at least 250 kg (551 lbs) lighter than a B7 RS4, so it has the potential to handle just as well as it accelerates.

The finished car won’t be cheap. In fact, interested buyers will need to pay Audacious Automotive at least $466,000 for the build, and this doesn’t include the cost of a donor Audi Quattro or an RS4, both of which are required.
