China’s latest bargain Range Rover clone has been unveiled as Jaecoo follows up on the success of its Jaecoo 7 SUV with another cut-price successor. The Jaecoo 7 enjoyed one of the most successful debut years for a new manufacturer, with over 28,000 models sold in the UK.
But the Chinese manufacturer is not resting on its laurels as it lifts the covers off its latest flagship SUV challenger, the Jaecoo 8. The new model will be fitted with Chery’s Super Hybrid System, boasting an impressive range of over 700 miles. It’s enough to take drivers from London to Milan on a single tank of fuel.
The car will be offered in two trims, with the Luxury model fitted with seven seats, 12.3-inch displays and a 14-speaker sound system. The pricier Executive model is fitted with six seats but offers first-class comfort with Nappa leather seating and four ventilated massage captain’s chairs with extendable thigh support.
Victor Zhang, UK country director at JAECOO UK, explained: “This is the first time we’re offering both a 6- and a 7-seat configuration within a single model, ensuring the JAECOO 8 [SHS-P] is suited to a wide range of use cases – from families to professionals and everyone in between."
Prices will start from £45,500 for the Jaecoo 8 Luxury model and £47,500 OTR for the Executive, around £8,000 cheaper than a plug-in Range Rover Evoque. Set to hit the market in May 2026, the Jaecoo 8 will expand on its predecessor, with a range of extra features not included on the 7.
For the first time ever on a Jaecoo model, the new model is fitted with lockable differentials alongside an adaptive all-terrain response system. Jaecoo claims the new tools will ensure the model will offer enhanced capability across a wide range of driving conditions.
The Jaecoo 8 will have an electric-only range of up to 83 miles, ensuring drivers can take advantage of daily zero-emission driving. DC fast-charging capabilities also come as standard, with the model capable of being topped-up from 30%-80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Jaecoo 8 customers will also benefit from Jaecoo’s 7-year or 100,000-mile warranty as standard, including an extended 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty on the battery. From the outside, the Jaecoo 8 looks the part and is an evolution of the iconic Jaeco 7 pattern that customers have flocked to order.
The model returns with its distinct LED lighting and signature waterfall grille, with hidden door and a panoramic sunroof completing a sleek image. The model also looks set to deliver enough performance to keep petrolheads happy, with the new Jaecoo 8 hitting 0-62 mph in just 5.8 seconds with a top speed of around 127mph.
This is a clear step up from the Jaecoo 7, which could only hit 0-62 mph in 8.5 seconds and had a top speed of around 112 mph. Inside, Jaecoo says the model will have an extended luggage space, with 2,021 litres available with the rear seats folded.
Safety is also at a premium, with the new Jaecoo 8 fitted with 10 airbags and up to 19 advanced driver assistance systems, including front collision warning, emergency braking and blind spot detection tools.
Victor added: “As our flagship, and the halo model for us here in the UK, it [the JAECOO 8 SHS-P] plays a key role in showcasing what JAECOO stands for, bringing together our approach to modern design, advanced hybrid technology and genuine all-road capability in a way that feels both premium and highly usable.”
