UK construction company falls into administration – worked on roads and motorways

Another serious blow to the UK motoring industry as another company falls into administration just weeks into 2026.

A UK construction company previously involved in the building of roads and motorways has dropped into administration. According to the London Gazette, administrators were appointed for W.T. CONSTRUCTION (POOLE) LIMITED on February 13.

However, the listing was only made public in the early hours of February 18 in the latest blow to the UK's motoring sector. W.T. CONSTRUCTION (POOLE) LIMITED, based at Selbys Yard Huntick Road, Lytchett Matravers, Poole, Dorset, is still listed as an “active” business on Companies House. At this stage, there is no word on whether the move could lead to job cuts for staff.

Companies House lists the business as being involved in the “construction of roads and motorways”. The news could be a blow to the local area, with the firms specialising in road building amd asphalt for well over a quarter of a century.

The private limited company was first incorporated on July 16, 1998, almost 28 years ago. The business has received some positive feedback from local residents who have taken up their services.

One customer posted a review suggesting they would highly recommend” the brand for future construction work. They posted: “What a lovely bunch of workmen. Very polite, friendly and hard working. Are currently doing a fantastic job of our driveway in Longham. I would highly recommend.”

The news is the latest blow to the UK motoring sector who has faced a swathe of firms falling into difficulty so far in 2026. Just last week, car hire service, Afford Rent a Car, plunged into administration after 45 years of business.

The brand offered car and van hire across Staffordshire and Cheshire since forming back in 1981, but confirmed the appointment of administrators on February 10.

Earlier this year, car dealership Glynn Andrews Car Sales Limited ceased trading, with liquidators appointed back on February 6.

Meanwhile, major brands have also suffered, with Vertu Motors closing five dealerships across the UK. Major car hire brand Zipcar also closed its doors, shutting operations in London after over 18 years in service.
