Today, the NASCAR Cup Series takes the green flag in the Daytona 500. The race on the 2.5-mile of Daytona International Speedway is the biggest race of the season for the sport.
The purse for the 2026 Daytona 500 is set at a record $31,045,575. That’s up from $30,331,250 in 2025.

How much is the winner’s share of the Daytona 500 purse?
NASCAR hasn’t formerly released payout details in more than a decade. However, court documents have shed some light into these numbers.

According to those documents that surfaced in court, the race winner will take 5.160% of the purse. That would total $1,601,950.

The numbers above are not the full payout, it’s only the base purse payout. Charter related payments, performance payments, sponsor and team bonuses are not included in the figures above.
Every charter team receives an additional base payout of $141,000 per race.
The payout itself goes to the team. Drivers have agreements with their teams that determine how much of the earnings they take home directly.
