NASCAR has confirmed there will be no penalty issued
Dale Earnhardt Jr was famously issued a penalty by NASCAR after he won at Talladega Superspeedway on October 3, 2004. NASCAR fined him $10,000 and issued a 25-point penalty. All he said was, “don’t mean s— right now.”
But, NASCAR has stepped back from doing that.
That’s more clear than ever. On Wednesday, Bowman Gray Stadium hosted the opening race of the 2026 season.
Ryan Preece dropped multiple f-bombs during the television broadcast from victory lane on Wednesday night. The language was not bleeped.
And a portion of the NASCAR fan base responded exactly how you’d expect. The social posts lit up, complaining about the race winner’s language.
It was the first NASCAR Cup Series win for Preece. The driver was emotionally as he previously took on significant personal debt, including mortgaging his house just to stay in the sport. He used the money to buy a ride with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017.
However, today NASCAR confirmed that Preece will not be fined or penalized for the language.
NASCAR will return to action next week. It’s the famed Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.
