Certain E.ON customers can look forward to spending less thanks to a new change to two of the energy supplier's tariffs. E.ON, especially E.ON Next, is one of the biggest and most well-known energy suppliers in the UK, often seen as part of the 'Big Six' providers.
In a new update announced today (February 3), E.ON Next has lowered the price of its Next Drive Smart and Next Drive Fixed EV tariffs. Tariffs will save customers, on average, £509 and £485 respectively against the Energy Price Cap when charging their car off-peak.
E.ON Next has repriced its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs, cutting costs on daytime rates to help EV drivers with at-home chargers save more money on their energy bills. A E.ON spokesperson said: "Next Drive Smart and Next Drive Fixed continue to offer long and cheap off-peak windows for customers to fully charge their EV overnight from as little as £2.60."
Customers charging their car off-peak on Next Drive Smart can save £509 per year compared to charging on the energy price cap, according to E.ON. Next Drive Smart v5.5 features two rates:
In addition, customers charging off-peak on Next Drive Fixed v13 can save £485 per year compared to charging on the energy price cap
Jean Coleman, Director of Commercial at E.ON Next, said: "As more people across the UK seek meaningful ways to cut their energy bills and reduce their driving costs, the shift from traditional fuels to electric is accelerating – and we’re committed to helping make the switch more affordable.
"Our Next Drive tariffs have been designed to give customers greater flexibility, enabling them to charge their electric vehicles at lower‑cost overnight rates while still benefiting from competitive pricing during peak times. It’s about helping lower bills for everyone, making the move to electric not just easier, but smarter and more cost-effective for everyone."
Electric vehicles (EVs) are great because they cost less to run, require very little maintenance, and offer a better driving experience with instant power. They also produce no tailpipe emissions, which helps improve air quality. Plus, as more renewable energy sources are used, they become even more eco-friendly, more efficient, and quieter, with less pollution.
And customers who choose to sign up to Next Drive Smart or Next Drive Fixed will also experience additional benefits.
