The 2024 World Champion won’t take to the track just yet – but will be onsite in Malaysia as MotoGP gets back in action
Aprilia Racing have confirmed that Jorge Martin will not be on-track for the Sepang Test and is set to be replaced by test rider Lorenzo Savadori. The 2024 World Champion will continue his physical recovery programme following two further revision surgeries in mid-December, one on his left scaphoid and one on his right collarbone.
This team say the decision is aimed at ensuring Martin’s full recovery and peak physical condition ahead of the season opener, and that the #89 will nevertheless be present in Malaysia, closely following the team’s work and the development of the RS-GP26.
Their first on-track appointment is the Shakedown Test, with Aprilia Racing’s official test rider Lorenzo Savadori taking part. That’s followed by the official Sepang Test from the 3rd to the 5th of February, with Marco Bezzecchi on track alongside Savadori as the test rider stands in for Martin.
