► EV4 GT gains dual-motor AWD powertrain

Kia is venturing back in the world of hot hatches with the reveal of the EV4 GT at the Brussels Motor Show.
Presented alongside the EV3 and EV5 GT at one of Europe’s fastest-growing motor shows, it buids on the launch of the standard EV4 towards the tail end of last year.
The GT is the only version of the EV4 available with a dual-motor powertrain, getting an additional electric motor on its rear axle to enable four-wheel drive. Combined power is 288bhp (194bhp front, 94bhp rear), enabling a 0-60mph time of 5.6 seconds – shaving 2.1 seconds off the standard EV4’s time.
Key changes for the GT compared to the regular EV4 include adaptive suspension, with a GT-specific tune, and 20-inch alloys wrapped in performance tyres. It’s also equipped with Ioniq 5 N-esque virtual gear shifts, as well as a specific sports sound.
The models also get a specific GT driving mode that is said to ‘harmonise power delivery, steering response, suspension and vehicle dispays to deliver a more focused and immersive driving character’.
The EV4 GT also packs the same 81.4kW battery that higher-spec EV4s are provided with. There’s no word on range yet, but expect a figure of around 350 miles, down from 388 in the standard car. It can also rapid charge at speeds of up to 135kW, giving a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in 31 minutes.
Exterior changes are minimal, though, with slightly different bumpers, larger alloy wheels and green brake callipers being the only giveaways.
As for the interior, it comes with what Kia describes as ‘semi-bucket seats’, as well as a different three-spoke steering wheel, various lime green details and revised graphics and displays for the infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster.
The EV4 GT will be available as both a usual five-door hatchback guise and also in Kia’s oddball Fastback (saloon) guise, rivalling the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX and Cupra Born VZ in the electric hot hatch class.
Prices and specifications for the trio of new GT models have not been announced, but we expect it to start from around £45,000. Production will begin at Kia’s plant in Slovakia in the second quarter of 2026, though first UK deliveries are not likely until later in the year.
