A driver has shared their unusual approach to parallel parking and it’s got people “taking notes”. Parallel parking can be notoriously difficult to master as it requires drivers to park parallel to the road, typically in line with other vehicles.
The RAC states: “Few manoeuvres strike fear into the hearts of learner drivers like the parallel park.” There’s a litany of tutorials and purported hacks often shared on social media by experienced drivers and professional driving instructors, all keen to help de-mystify the process.
It’s not just learners who may struggle with the process, though. Those with years of experience on the roads may still do their best to avoid having to parallel park.
Being able to parallel park is a useful skill and involves pulling up alongside a parked car and reversing into the available parking space behind it.
The RAC explains: “Parallel parking allows you to park in a smaller space than would be possible if you were driving forward into it.
“Driving forward into a roadside space is usually only doable if two spaces in a row are unoccupied. By reversing in, a driver can take advantage of a single empty space, not too much longer than the car.”
On X, a video was shared showcasing one driver’s untraditional method to parallel parking. The footage has been captured from above, observing a snowy scene below.
Though the driver begins in the expected way - pulling up alongside the car parked in front of the available parking space - and begins to reverse, things soon change.
Instead of continuing to reverse and then straighten up so the car is completely parallel to the road and in line with other parked vehicles, the driver reverses until the back of the car is parallel with the street and then continues to turn their steering wheel, making the car rotate a full 180 degrees.

After that, the driver appears to be seamlessly parallel parked, only instead of the bonnet of their car is facing in the opposite direction to the way it would have been had they opted for the traditional method of parking.
The caption accompanying the clip simply reads: “A driver who introduced a new technique to parallel parking.”
In the comments section, fellow fans of X were keen to weigh in with their thoughts. One person quipped: “That’s one way to do it”. Another said: “How did he do that s***. That’s crazy skill right there”.
