A driver who covered his car in Christmas fairy lights was pulled over by police. The vehicle was spotted on the road decked out with bright lights, which covered every inch of the exterior.
Unfortunately, officers on patrol were forced to pull him over due to the design breaking Road Traffic Regulations. In the build-up to Christmas, motorists have now been warned about stunts like this.
Two officers pulled the driver over and informed him about the traffic offences he was committing yesterday in Poole, Dorset. The traffic offences could land motorists with a £50 fine.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The driver was stopped and given words of advice about the traffic offences he was committing and also reminded about the seriousness of celebrating Christmas before December. Displaying red light to the front of a vehicle or other colours to the rear that aren't listed in Road Traffic Regulations is an offence and can land you with a £50 fine.
“Whilst this vehicle might look 'sleigh', the actions of this driver could land him on the naughty list.”
Yet members of the public applauded the driver's design. Jack Pascoe said: “Looks cool though.”
Louie Thomas added: “Aw Sergeant Grinch, I get why but it looks so good.” Michael Tarling said: “So if he took out the red lights at the front he’d be ok?”
Charlie added: “Next to solve some real crime.”
William said: “I’m fairly certain that if I saw this car on the road my reaction would not be ‘Oh my god I can see brake lights all over his car’. “But ‘Woah, that’s a car covered in Christmas lights’.
“Really don’t see why this is an issue.”
