The signifiance of the 2025 title is different for Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier, as we debate on SPIN, The Rally Pod

“Evans needs to win this one – this is potentially his best chance. Ogier would love to get it, but he doesn’t need it.”
Colin Clark is known to provide a good soundbite, and this one is typically thought-provoking.
While the same prize is on the line for all three Toyota World Rally Championship drivers, its significance differs wildly.
Elfyn Evans has led the championship after 10 of the 13 events so far, and has never been crowned world champion before. Sébastien Ogier meanwhile has done this on eight previous occasions, and never started 2025 with the title as his goal. For him it would be a bonus; for Evans a career-defining moment.
Kalle Rovanperä is the outsider after a disappointing Japan, but is also in a far more relaxed position than Evans with his two previous titles and a new life ahead of him as a circuit racer.
Eliot Barnard takes up the debate with Colin on SPIN, The Rally Pod as the pair pick apart a pulsating Rally Japan.
