Boreham Motorworks’ 10,000rpm Mk1 Ford Escort RS Engine Pumps Classic Performance

Boreham Motorworks brings back the legendary Mk1 Ford Escort RS with a state-of-the-art 2.1-liter 10,000rpm four-cylinder engine delivering 325 horsepower and cutting-edge motorsport technology.

Boreham Motorworks is rewriting history by resurrecting the iconic Mk1 Ford Escort RS with a new high-revving 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine called the TEN-K. Designed to rev to an astonishing 10,000 rpm, this naturally aspirated powerplant produces a peak 325 horsepower, surpassing initial projections and promising blistering performance in a lightweight package.

The TEN-K features billet construction throughout the crankshaft, connecting rods, mounts, sump, and cam cover, marrying modern precision engineering with motorsport DNA. Its cylinder head boasts 16 valves and port geometry inspired by Formula 1 designs, bringing race-bred airflow efficiency to a road car.

Innovations like 3D-printed engine block castings allow remarkably thin but strong walls, keeping overall engine weight down to just 85 kg. The engine's howl is enhanced by individual throttle bodies, delivering the signature racecar growl.

Paired with a five-speed dogleg manual gearbox and mechanical limited-slip differential, this engine powers a faithful yet modern continuation of the classic Escort RS. Boreham plans to build only 150 units of this revival, priced starting near £295,000, targeting enthusiasts hungry for raw performance combined with the classic looks we all love.

For fans of the classic Ford Escort and modern performance, Boreham’s 10,000rpm Mk1 RS represents the perfect storm of nostalgia and cutting-edge technology, promising a driving experience unlike any other.
