Rick Hendrick speaks on the new 2026 GM NASCAR body

Rick Hendrick speaks on the new 2026 GM NASCAR body. General Motors is set to release a new NASCAR body for the Cup Series.

The Chevy ZL1 is going away. The body ran it’s last race at Phoenix Raceway.

For the 2026 season, GM will be bringing a new body shape to the NASCAR Cup Series. There’s been very few leaks regarding the shape of that body.

However, the body is complete. That was confirmed by NASCAR just a few weeks ago.

Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports is excited about the new car…

“Our guys, along with GM have been working on this,” Rick Hendrick told Bob Pockrass.

“It’s supposedly better than what we got. Closer to what Toyota and Ford have.”

“They had a shot at the apple. Taking our car and getting their car better.”

“So next year, I mean, we gotta learn the car. It wont be perfect right out of the gate.”

Next year, NASCAR is increasing horsepower on track shorter than 1-mile. The first test with that new package is coming this week.

“I’m super excited about more power. And I’m excited about having a new car that we can work with that’s got more down force.”

I haven't seen it but with some upcoming tests of the ECU and horsepower for next year, would expect new Chevy body will be revealed soon. Here is Rick Hendrick on the change: https://t.co/r0IOpm3ZRM pic.twitter.com/6mY9fvytbj
