A single parking space has gone on the market for a staggering £150,000 - and that is before extra fees kick in.

The space sits in a secure underground garage beneath a gated residential complex overlooking the River Thames in Fulham, south west London.

But even after spending a six-figure sum for the plot, buyers will still have to cover £542 a year in service charges - paid as £271 every six months.

On top of that, they will be charged £20 per year in ground rent, billed in two £10 instalments.

The plot is 10.31 sq m and the owner will be able to gain access using a fob.

It comes with 24-hour security and an electric vehicle charger, with its secure shutter uses ANPR.

An online description says: 'This space is part of a secure underground parking facility within a gated residential complex along the River Thames.'

The space is being advertised by estate agency Purplebricks, whose website calls it 'a rare opportunity to never worry about parking your car again'.

It comes after a parking space in nearby Chelsea went on sale earlier this year for £165,000 or to rent for £8,500 per year - plus an annual service charge of £850.

Listed by Nicolas Van Patrick, an estate agents based in Knightsbridge and Chelsea, the car parking space was described as being in a 'gated covered park' and coming with a 'store room.'

A Rightmove listing said: 'We are very pleased to offer to the market secure, allocated, covered car parking spaces in this discreet Chelsea car park.

'Spaces are available on a multispace or individual basis, for sales and lettings.'

The street on which the car parking space is situated, St Leonard's Terrace, has average property prices of £2.3million.

Also this year, a space in Knightsbridge, west London area, was listed for £90,000 despite being too small for most cars.

Interested buyers were asked to pay £40,000 for the spot - situated through a gap in the wall - and a further £46,750 to keep it for a lengthy period of time.

The space's listing described it as only suitable for 'small cars' and ideally if they are 'continental-style 'left-hand drive.'

Meanwhile, a single outdoor space in a prime London location went on sale for an eyewatering £300,000.

The price tag is more than £50,000 above the average cost of a home in Britain, which now stands at around £248,000 according to the UK Price Index.

Located next to London's Hyde Park, the simple plot of land comes with two bollards and a metal chain to indicate that it is for private parking only.

The standard-sized parking space has 79 years left on a 91-year lease and is just a stone's throw away from the West Carriage Drive entrance to Hyde Park.
