Porsche Restomod Reimagined: Meet The Æ94

Dutch company Aerfal Automotive is turning back the clock with a fresh take on Porsche’s iconic mid-60s racer, the 904 Carrera GTS. They’ve birthed the Æ94, a reimagined restomod based on the humble 914 chassis but inspired by the legendary 904's timeless design and rare flat-eight engine heritage.

This project strays from the usual crowd of 911 restomods by resurrecting the spirit of Porsche’s sleek fiberglass-bodied racer, combining vintage charm and modern performance with a cutting-edge twist. Gone is the four-cylinder simplicity of the donor 914; instead, Aerfal plans to fit the Æ94 with a bespoke, air-cooled, 4.0-litre flat-eight engine producing around 400 horsepower. That’s more power than the original 904, promising a soundtrack and driving experience that nods to Porsche’s raw racing roots.

The chassis is reinforced and modified to preserve original VINs while accommodating the new machinery. High-end components from Brembo, Bilstein, Michelin, and BBS help bring this tribute to life. The car’s proportions echo the 904’s aerodynamic beauty, stretched slightly to fit the longer 914 base, and wrapped in modern Michelin Cup 2 tyres.

Inside, expect a flawless blend of heritage and functionality: exposed titanium, racy bucket seats, leather, aluminium, and wood create an inviting cockpit with classic touches like manual window winders, a minimalist layout free from touchscreens, and a tactile gearlever with exposed linkage reminiscent of Lotus Elise mechanics.

This is an ode to a rare Porsche era that few have dared to touch. The Æ94 captures what Porsche’s engineers might build today, armed with modern tech but honoring a past when racing was pure and fearless.

More details on pricing and exact specs are expected soon, but one thing’s clear: the Æ94 will be a jaw-dropping, one-of-a-kind sports car that bridges vintage charisma and contemporary muscle.
