- Lexus LFR prototype spied again, hinting at a possible debut later this year.
- Prototype interior appears production-ready, featuring a large display screen.
- We can also see a minimalist shifter and dedicated climate and volume controls.
The Lexus LFR is inching closer to reality and spy photographers have snapped a new prototype with a production interior. While it’s heavily covered, the pictures give us our best glimpse at the classy and minimalist cabin.
Drivers sit behind a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters and a metallic accent. The latter sports an “L,” presumably signifying this is a Lexus. Sticking with the steering wheel a bit longer, we can see hexagonal control stalks and a top-mounted bump for a driver monitoring system.
Cabin Centerpiece
The real star is the infotainment system, which appears to be running a lightly revised version of the Lexus Interface. As you can see, it features familiar shortcuts on the left as well as a climate display at the bottom. We can also see a row of physical switchgear, which consists of driver and passenger climate controls as well as a volume adjuster.

Sticking with the center stack, it’s paired with a heavily stylized ‘casing.’ The latter features metallic ribs as well as recessed black panels with a cratered surface. A closer inspection also reveals a couple of horizontal air vents peeking out from beneath the switchgear.
The center console is covered by black cloth, but it features a subtle ramp-like design. At the front is a minimalist shifter, which appears to have a dedicated park button. We can also see two buttons behind the shifter, although it’s hard to make out what they are.
Rounding out the highlights are red Recaro seats that appear to have a carbon fiber shell. They mimic the ones shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, although these are wrapped in Alcantara or microfiber upholstery instead of leather.
We can also see swoopy door handles as well as vertical air vents at the outside edges of the dashboard. The prototype also sports an odd ‘cup holder’ that appears to protrude into the passenger seat, although that hopefully won’t carryover to the road-going model.
Lexus hasn’t said much about the LFR, but spy photographers recently caught prototypes testing out three different aerodynamic setups. One was believed to be the regular model, while the others had track packages in varying degrees of extremeness.
V8 With A Hybrid Twist
Powertrain details remain scarce, but the car is rumored to have a hybridized twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. This could deliver a combined output of around 900 hp (671 kW / 912 PS), although that should be taken with a grain of salt.
