Alex Palou and Sculptor Will Behrends Reveal Clay Model for Borg-Warner Trophy

Alex Palou and sculptor Will Behrends have unveiled the full-size clay model that will serve as the basis for Palou’s bas-relief image on the legendary Borg-Warner Trophy. This honor celebrates Palou’s victory in May’s 109th running of the Indianapolis 500.

With this upcoming addition, Palou will become the 112th driver to be immortalized on the iconic trophy, joining a prestigious group of champions who have conquered the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing." Palou’s win marked a historic moment as he became the first Spanish driver to claim the Indy 500 title.

The clay sculpture captures Palou’s likeness with remarkable detail, crafted by Behrends, a sculptor renowned for his work on numerous Borg-Warner Trophy engravings. This process is a key step before the final bronze bas-relief is created and permanently attached to the trophy’s base.

Palou’s 2025 Indy 500 victory was a defining achievement in his rising career, adding to his multiple IndyCar championships and cementing his place in racing history. The unveiling of this sculpture marks the beginning of a new chapter in celebrating his incredible success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
