Genesis Will Sell You A New G90 For $1,006 But You Can’t Drive It

$1,006 is a lot to pay for a scale model, but the attention to detail is far beyond what you’d find in a typical toy

  • Genesis has launched a new collection of lifestyle goods in the United States.
  • The collection includes a high-end 1:18 scale model that’s handcrafted.
  • Production is limited to 500 units and it boasts impressive attention to detail.

Genesis’ sedan lineup is struggling, but you can get a heck of a deal on a new G90. In fact, if you know where to look, you can snatch a limited edition for $1,006.

While that sounds like a remarkable deal, there are a few caveats. The biggest being this is a 1:18 scale model that is being offered through the Genesis Collection. The latter is billed as a “curated selection of lifestyle goods” that “aims to enhance its customers’ everyday lives and ownership experience.”

Curated might be a bit of a stretch as the store is filled with the typical crap automakers offer. This includes t-shirts, overpriced hats, and a couple of blankets. There’s also a $65 Golf Edition Bear Key Charm, which probably won’t be flying off shelves anytime soon.

While the $624 Alcantara weekender bag is admittedly interesting, the star of the show is a collection of scale models. The lineup is limited, but customers can score a 1:43 scale model of the G70 or GV70 for $74.
