Reigning World Rally champion Thierry Neuville has confirmed he will remain with Hyundai next season – providing the Korean manufacturer continues in the WRC.
While Neuville, who has driven Hyundais since switching from M-Sport at the end of the 2013 season, admitted the situation is looking stronger for 2026, he remains concerned at the possible impact of a lack of contractual clarity.
“If Hyundai is there, I will be there,” he told DirtFish. “It depends on the decision which will be taken by Hyundai for the continuation of the program. It’s a bit up and down. We’re going to find out. I try not to be too much worried about it because I want to focus on my driving, but, for sure, it’s never easy if you don’t know what is going to [be] the future.
“I mean, obviously, if we carry on, it’s good and we’re going to keep good people in the team and keep them motivated as well. If not, it will be much more challenging towards the end of the year.”
Asked about his options if Hyundai was to withdraw from the WRC, he added: “I’m not too much worried [that] it would be the end of the road. But, I mean, that’s motorsport in whatever category. Hyundai has been in WRC for many, many years, but I don’t know, you don’t know, but at some point we’re going to know.”
Would he switch teams?
“It’s not a question I’m asking myself at the moment, to be honest. I know I still have the passion and I would like, obviously, to continue in rallying, for sure. But I don’t know. It’s too early to ask that question.
“We’ve been there for many, many years and we have always been able to have a couple of victories every season and always between six and eight, nine podiums. Last year I was it was a great year for us and that gives a good bunch of motivation for what’s coming next.”
